Re: Delica k390 Wharncliffe

Agree, the CPM 20CV Delica and Endura plus Delica Wharncliffe are exceptionally sharp out of box.
My K390 Delica and Endura are very easy to sharpen and deburr,,,, a weekly light spray and wipe down with EDCi leave a hard thin coating for rust/corrosion prevention.

Re: Hawkbill utility

When I was in the Navy, met some Marine snipers who liked the hawkbill for trimming small foliage from their line of sight in sniper positions. Easy to reach forward with one hand and remove weeds, small branches, etc.

Re: Wharncliffe benefits

When I was active duty in the Navy,,,,, many years ago,,, the only knife allowed on board most of the USN ships was the sailors knife,,,, a folding knife with sheepsfoot blade and small 3" marlin spike for rope work. These were carried mainly by Bosuns Mates who did work with ropes on occasion....

Re: Found a "new, unused" Delica for 10€....

Congratulations nice find. I have two from the same era, purchased new and only carried for short periods, one is CE and one SE with black blade. The early Delica is still very functional and a classic. Mine were used with a kydex neck sheath for easy access when fly fishing in rivers. Very handy wi...

Re: Stretch 2 K390

I daily carry two K390 knives from Spyderco since they were introduced. Weekly quick easy spray on and wipe off EDCi and not a spot of corrosion or patina. Live in New England with rain and snow mix now, humid in summers. For me the K390 sharpens so smoothly and holds an edge,,, well worth the addit...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I also occasionally have paste sticking to the knife, this usually indicates the paste is too thick. My solution is to use a paper towel and some light mineral oil,,, rub it into the leather strop to remove some of the diamond paste and the mineral oil will let the paste thin out and soak into the l...

Re: Spyderco Standard Clip vs. Lynch vs. MXG Gear

The 5x5 Combat Solutions example posted on their site for Spyderco FRN scales is a poor design,,,, it will be a pocket shredder. Adding an additional 1/2" length will improve that weakness.

Re: Kahr Delica Reintroduction

Dragonfly vs Delica with special shorter blade. Agree the D'fly is a great knife with nice thin blade stock however, the short three finger grip has always made me favor the Delica. I presently have only the HAP-40 D'fly in my collection, unique little razor sharp blade that is inactive and in stora...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

I have used diamond sprays and pastes for 30+ years. I had a friend who was into engraving and he used diamond sprays on low speed powered ceramic disk to finish sharpen his gravers. We experimented with our knives on leather disks and wooden backed strops using the diamond sprays. Sharpen to nice c...

Re: Should the Delica have a regular production model with upgraded scales/steel?

I enjoy the Delica as presently manufactured with FRN. The offerings with special runs of steels does inflate my collection greatly. Long time favorites with Super Blue and HAP-40 are now being displaced with K390 and CPM-20CV. After market scales are readily available for those that desire somethin...

Re: Spyderco Standard Clip vs. Lynch vs. MXG Gear

I have clips from Lynch and MXG, agree with above comments on clip tension. My current favorite is Delica with after market micarta scales and the short Lynch clip. This combination gives me more grip area on the scales and feels more comfortable compared to the longer area covered with standard Spy...

Re: Have Your Knife Preferences Changed This Year?

This was the year I completely stopped carrying the compression lock PM2 and Para 3 knives. I am seriously considering selling off the entire collecton. Focused on EDC of Delica and Endura, both at the same time. Thin blade for small slicing and longer heavier blade for rougher work. Slim and comfor...

Re: Knife Joy 20CV Wharncliffe Delica

Rec'd my order for two Delica Wharncliffe from Knife Joy. Both are excellent and the earlier orders from KJ for Delica and Endura were also fantastic. A little Gunny Glide in the pivot and washer area and they are super smooth. I usually just ignore the discussions of "out of the box sharp"...

Re: Sharpeners Guide to the Galaxy (of blades) or Blades of (sharp) Glory

Agree, steel alloy vs stone type vs edge geometry vs technique and personal experience/preferences are all variables that do not fit into a spreadsheet of recommendations/rules.

I enjoy sharpening and experimenting while learning about techniques.

Yes, a very expensive custom forged,,, one at a time laminated blade.
Beautiful knife,,,, most likely very high cost.
Not a production Spyderco application.
