I stand corrected on the steel. Mine is in fact marked VG10 which I hadn't taken in before. I'd guess my info on the changeover to ATS 34 is totally erroneous.

Post Scriptum:

I've seen it suggested a few times that the spyderholes in the end of the handles could be used for some innivative flips. I think they are too small for that purpose by adult fingers, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

This is a review I wrote on another forum (Swinguard)

The Spyderfly was Spyderco's first butterfly knife. It's very much a love it or hate it piece. The blade is remniscent of the old Pacific Cutlery weehawk style, the handles are like nothing seen before on a balisong and have the spyderholes we are used to seeing on spyderco blades. The first runs we...

N690C is also used by Extrema Ratio. In my limited experience the one used by Fox is not heat treated as well as ER and is at a lower hardness level: Translation: It's easier to sharpen but does not hold an edge as well. Fox is not so much a manufacturer as a marketing company - a bit like Cold Stee...

170mph on the road, 220 on a circuit.
Seriously quick road driving is becoming a bit hazardous for the driving licence thanks to police use of technology and policies of taxing speed. There are still some places where a car can be opened up.

I also use a dental waterpic to clear the grit, dry with compressed air or a couple of minutes with a hairdryer, WD40 to hit the last of the water, a light lube job and good to go.

Not everyone agrees with the Fillipino origin:

I can easily see how your grip works. I dont quite understand how Perrins grip is secure.

I'm another cricket fan, but I don't see how this grip is secure on a heavy stroke, unless you also use a lanyard around your hand?

What is the original knife and how does it work? Thanks. http://www.spyderco.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=455&stc=1 The blade is obviously a Spyderco civillian. The knife is known as an AK47 as it was supposed to be made from parts taken from scrap Kalashnikov AK47s. They're not. Best...

Why not an auto version of the dodo? and screws for disassembley for cleaning and easy maintenance. Modular construction with the spring and the lock in easily removed and refitted modules for those of us who travel in knife unfriendly areas. I guess we would be at Microtech prices for something li...

1) Would you support a Spyderco Automatic? Yes, but I collect automatics (as well as spydies, traditional Italian folders and a couple of others). 2) Would you support a Spyderco assisted-opener? Yes, but I think AOs are a poor substitute for a real auto. I think they are a toy. 3) What would you wa...

The UK handgun ban with its simplistic, and imho idiotic, reasoning is the way all of Europe seems to be going and eventually the USA. Not to worry, the nanny state will look after us and protect us and stop us from playing with those dangerous bang sticks. This study doesn't seem to get much attent...
