Re: My Delica ZDP-189 is discolorated?

That discoloration is pretty common. I had this on my Delica ZDP189 too, along with my Stretch (both in FRN and CF). Nothing wrong in terms of function, really.

I'm just curious. Have you ever handled one of the originals? I've carried and used them. The steel liners increased the weight of the knife by 50%. That doesn't make the new one heavy, but it isn't the featherweight, forget-it's-in-your-pocket, elegant folder that the original was. It's like switc...

Gentlemen, we disagree on the brown G-10 Caly. I like micarta OK, but I dig the grip I get from the G-10. The brown color works for me for some reason. This sprint was a pretty big surprise for me and I carry mine pretty often. At one time, some folks said that dribbling the basketball was a bastard...

Kopa and VG10 Caly3 never came back :( :( :( :( :( :( :( We got close - had the Damascus Caly 3 sprint and the Super Blue sprint. Heck, we even had the large Caly with brown scales -- one of my personal favorites. Remember the mileage that the Orange Dodo thread got prior to the sprint? Didn't that...

I used to. Not anymore. I have yet to wear out a knife completely, and there is always something in the pipeline that would work as a replacement if I lose one of my currently owned favorites.

The VG10 Damascus you mentioned. Is that totally Stainless. I normally don't care for Damascus because of the rough finish and because most of it will rust like the devil. I had a chance to buy a Titanium Damascus Delica at the 2013 Blade Show for $200 but passed it up because I was afraid of it an...

I have the Caly 3 Damascus sprint. It's my "Sunday go to Meetin'" knife.

A 3.5 Damascus sprint would get my attention. I can't guarantee I would buy one because I am happy with the 3 at present.

Maybe a full-on Calypso sprint in Damascus?

I think trench knives are really cool, but as a 45 year-old father of three, I have no use for one. I have a friend my age and he purchased a Busse Battlemaster a few years back. He liked it a lot, but ended up selling it because he didn't have anything he could use it for. With ever limited funds f...

I liked the blued scales a lot. A whole lot. I tried to obtain one before they were discontinued but my funds and timing were off. The gray fluted model did not excite me. I prefer the plain Ti version to the fluted silver version. I am a huge Ti fan and I can't explain why. I have to confess that i...

The Caly Jr is the only Caly series model that I have not owned. The Caly series has become my favorite so I would be pretty stoked about a Jr sprint.

I've gone from collector/user to just user, so high-dollar knife purchases are not much of a thing these days. There are too many models that suit my needs in a more affordable price range, as user knives. If I were collecting, then that would be another story. And, like Donut said, there is always ...

I hear that titanium heals itself, so that gouge would only be temporary.

I like the creative thinking. I was a huge Marvel Comics fan as a kid and very much enjoy the movies as an adult. I would love to see this collaboration happen, but... I don't think that a collaboration would benefit Marvel much at all. After all, shouldn't both sides get something out of a collabor...

I was doing some knife trading with a good friend of mine - we each had our small collections laid out - and he had a stainless steel Delica. I got to play with it for awhile but he wouldn't part with it. It didn't take me long to get my own (FRN, ZDP-189 version) and I was off and running from there.

+1 The sense of entitlement from the Spyderco community is off-putting. That sense of entitlement is not restricted to the Spyderco community, sadly. BBS can do what they want. You get to choose to buy or not. Seems fair enough. Para 2 exclusives are not essential purchases, so spend your discretionary funds or not, as you choose. I agree. I have purchased one knife through Bento Box Shop (it was an exclusive that I could not pass on). Shipping ...

Just a plain-Jane Military in S30V.

I haven't used very many fixed blade Spyderco models so I can't give a qualified guess on a choice there.
