Re: Price increases for 2024
Looking at prices today post increase, it seems like MAP discount indeed decreased from 30% to 25%, and MSRP stayed the same for the few examples I looked at.

Re: MagnaCut Fine Edge Retention
I cannot speak for Spyderco's Magnacut, but I have some experience with four CRK's in the rotation over the last year: - L Sebenza x2 (Magnacut and S45VN) - L Inkosi x2 (Magnacut and S45VN) - All of them with similar non-factory bevels (17 dps), micros (20 dps) and edge finishes (DMT Fine, 1 um diam...

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange
I don't need this level of edge retention. But, REX-121 is such a way-out bonkers exotic material, it makes sense to get at least one. For science.

I'm defintely going to grab a Crucarta M2. I've regretted missing out on the original gray Cruwear Millie sprint years ago, and will not let that happen again.

Re: What does “ergonomic” mean to you?
I like a wide and "flat choil", like on the Stretch or Caly, rather than the deep narrow choils like on the Native or Manix: https://i.postimg.cc/XvGB7m17/IMG-4004.jpg Example, on the Caly the choil is "flat" and almost in line with the cutting edge, making it snag less when you ...

Re: A New Thread For Axes, Hatchets, Hawks & Other Striking Tools
I have two Gransfors Bruks splitting axes, to feed the wood burning stove in winter. Splitting nasty knotted Australian hardwoods. - Splitting maul - 2 years old - Small splitting axe - 10+ years old The overstrike collars must have saved me a small fortune by now, both are still on the original han...

Re: Please show some love for the Gauntlet
I also like the oval stones. Yes for an in-between grit (similar to DMT fine 600 grit), and for a 15 dps base. I think the oval stones are more effective because: - they are longer than the SM triangles - they contact the blade edge in a smaller area than the SM flats, so higher pressure at the cont...

Re: Sharpmaker Elite Edition
I vote no. I’m hoping Spyderco will introduce a Gauntlet with the ability to do 15dps as well as having more cbn stones to choose from. To me the Gauntlet with the cbn cat's eye stones are superior to the sharpmaker’s triangle stones. The stones don’t wobble around in the base on the Gauntlet like ...

Re: MagnaWear Easter Egg?
I've had some microchipping issues on both grit finishes. I brought it down to 17dps and then 15dps after the first time. More of the same, and being a wear resistance junkie that doesn't care about corrosion resistance, I had a feeling it would likely disappoint...and it does. I won't be buying an...
