Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
1) CPM Cruwear 2) PD#1 3) 3V Honorable mention goes to S110V, when I want rust-proof. Much prefer it over LC200N for that application. My "beach knife" is a Ti S110V Military - not much that can rust on that one. If I count the steel that I use most, it's M390/20CV/204p, simply because of ...

Re: Thoughts on elmax?
...but I'll say I have never been impressed with the toughness of m390/204p/20cv (although no one really buys these steels for toughness).... Me neither. Then again, I've had an M390 PM2 chip repeatedly (62 HRC?), but not yet M390 Hinderer or ZT knives (~60 HRC?), in practical use. Don't think we k...

Re: Thoughts on elmax?
Like I said in the other thread: feels not too different from M390, a bit more sensitive to corrosion, a little less tough. This from using a couple of Elmax knives from another brand. No idea how Spyderco's heat treatment differs, of course. AFAIK, Spyderco has only used it in a 2014 PM2 and the Li...

I've heard about Elmax, but have never seen it really talked about or people that use it around here. What is it comparable to? I have a couple from other brands. As we speak, almost the entire list above is on Special at KC now, Advocate for $156, Opus for $136, etc. Finally got the Opus, always want to have one :)

Just FYI, my medium and fine ones are 8x2. Feels plenty, for a 3.5" folder as above. Wider would be nicer for - say - Military or longer.

My second 3V folder (after the Tuff)
To be honest, don't notice much difference between 3V and Cruwear.

Re: Pocket clip (wood-) screws just in wood?
Pretty knife and scales. I very much recommend not to use wood-screws, you'll pull them out immediately when using the clip. What you could do is use machine clip screws, and put a piece of metal on the other side of your scales. For example, if you have an old Endura steel liner, you could cut out ...

Re: Manix v Manix XL v PM2
I want to get a bit of an upgrade and was looking at either the Manix 2 XL, Manix2 or PM2. (That is in order of my current preference before your advice). Good Day, Daniel. Your order of preference is correct. :) I have seen some complaints about the Manix 2 XL on you tube re fit and finish and the...

Re: Let's take a look inside my Police 4
My Police 3 also gets rusty liners, but it took years rather than 6 months. It also wasn't as bad. Since I rarely carry my P3 let me go a head and pop it open for a comparison shot. This Police 3 was purchased the year they came out...2008 I think? I carried it in rotation with other knives over th...

Re: Is the Siren a Salt?
Construction looks like the Native Chief, meaning no liners. Which unfortunately makes it a no-go for me, but obviously other than screws and Pivot, nothing else will rust, assuming the lock is LC200N as well.

OK, how did you do that, custom liners? If so, where can I find them :) Liners are completely replaced with Flytanium Ti scales :) Here are the details: https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?t=82934 I now have several of these, they compare in weight to a Manix LW, and hold up very well. https:/...
