Re: China and tariffs

I believe that in modern societies, we do things backards. The opposite of war isn't peace, it's trade. In society, we use and have always used punishment to guide behavior when we should be using education. In my opinion. sal As long as it's fair trade, yes.... It's time for the Government to take...

Well "Calicoast" you've kind of lit of fire. Because you just have to deduct that if the company is making good reels well you know their rods are going to be decent as well. I did get some tackle that had D.A.M. Quick's label on them. They were bass lures>> I got them on fleabay some tim...

Re: China and tariffs

I don't want to get into a political debate and won’t. If you remember your history, tariffs contributed to the Great Depression. They might have worked 50 years ago, but too much industry is now international, with manufacturing cutting across borders. Tarriffs make it difficult for companies like...

Re: How much are you willing to spend on a Chinese made knife?

It's well established that these companies are making some of the highest quality production knives anywhere. So these days, if someone is biased against a knife made in China it's likely for political reasons. I chose the last option. $0.00 Politics aside, it's well established what China has done...

The knives made in China don’t appeal to me at all.

And never will.

If I can't afford a USA / JAPAN made knife, I will just wait until I have the funds to purchase.

I cant support anything China.
Maybe it's just principal.

That is one serious freakin’ knife. I believe it’s going to cut what needs cutting.
And it does, very quick.
Lots of knives: some stay - some go.
This one is a keeper.

Re: Jumpmaster 2 rocks !!!

Nice write up. Not many out there. I have a Jumpmaster 2. Came really sharp, cut myself within minutes. It has no joke written all over it. And once you get it going on the sharpmaker and round out those teeth, wow. Haven't used it too much, cut off few heads larger fish, thick rope, etc. But I alwa...

Re: Suggest a medium sized Spyderco FB for hiking & camping

Have a jumpmaster 2.
I would like the same shape, ffg, lc200n.
That would be a buy.

Stepping down a tad in blade length, I like my mules M4 + M390 hiking, fishing, light camp / wood work.
Over the last weekend, been using and enjoying my chisel ground SET Sharpfinger in A2.

Re: DAM Quick fishing reels?

Hey Jd, I have a few of the older Dam Quicks, Microlite, Garcia Mitchell, Penn Reels. All are very well made, I modified all my Dam Quicks to right hand cranks as well. That was a little project. The Garcia Mitchell's (307), have all been stripped, old grease removed, updated with carbon fiber drag...

Re: Tangled up in gray...

I used to have one of those old Rapala knives myself. I think I might still have it in some of my storage unit totes. I used to carry mine in my tackle box for years and used it quite a bit over the years. But I'm going on a search for more of Spyderco's CATCHERMAN models and I'm hoping they cave i...

Tangled up in gray...

Lately, been nose down in books studying so I needed a break. Last weekend when I was cleaning the garage I noticed an old Rapala / J.Marttinni 4" fillet that I purchased a while back for $9.00. Brand new in package, with a 1983 date on the back. 4" is a good size for Bluegill, Smaller Tro...

Honestly, life has been too busy to put too much attention towards the hobby.

+1.
Sold a bunch, down to 11 Spyderco's. Have about 5-6 folders I rotate. Lately been rotating between my PM2's: M4, Cruwear, M390. Pac Salt SE always in play.

Re: 410 vs H1 vs LC200N for scuba diving knife steel

H1 serrated is definitely the way to go, however, I'd be careful about having a knife in Mexico. ^^^ Good advice. It is a felony in Mexico. And it will not be favorable to you, unless you have your own fishing / dive boat, etc. I just returned home from fishing down in San Quintin, Baja MX. Multipl...

We finished the 2nd prototype and Eric is going to refine the design further. Not there yet.

Nice Sal.
Thanks for the information.
:)

I know it's early...but are we expecting a backlock on the Chief?
To me the compression works on the PM2, but something this big, backlock seems ideal.

Re: Cast Iron Cookware: Trendy Again! Who Else Likes It?

@JD: Cast iron loves bacon. It loves everything really. When I have the time, I like to make bacon or sausage biscuits and gravy. I do a lot of smoking of meats, these two combinations come out tasty. http://www.bbqaddicts.com/recipes/pork/sausage-recipe-smoking-fatties/ https://youtu.be/UCuDMtIpl50 C

Re: Special markings on Sprint&Limited Editions.

I think they should leave the blades blank with the Spyderco logo, Sal and Eric's marks, and include inserts in the box letting people know it's a special / limited edition. I wanted to buy the forum S90V PM2, but passed because of that.
Bet they would sell a lot more.
