Re: Plain edge vs Serrated knives?
... ... I... I still stand by my original statement. But yes I will admit for some such as yourself. Serrated knives may not be an issue. And I find that awesome. But sharpening serrations easily is true for roughly 10% to 15% of the population of pocket knife owners. I sm npt a sharpening wizard a...

Re: Affording the Necessary Stones for Super Steels
I gave up stones and went to Worksharp Ken Onion edition. Slap that knife in them belts on slow speed. Take your time and don't overheat the edge. And Viola! Done and razor sharp. Have you purchased the blade grinding attachment? It is pretty impressive! I been meaning to. I just found out about th...

Re: Plain edge vs Serrated knives?
Plain edge cuts cleaner and is easier to sharpen. Serrated is good for rough cuts, rope, stays sharp longer. And is much harder to sharpen. I must disagree. Serrated is easy to sharpen with the right tool, a Spyderco Sharpmaker. In fact, the wide bevel of the scallops makes it easy to match the edg...

Re: Byrd titanium
The question is what would be the best flagship blade steel for the Byrd line up. There are other issues to consider other than edge retention. One issue being cost effectiveness of switching to a better steel without losing a profit or substantially increasing the costs of the Byrd line up from a b...

Re: I lost my Chaparral!
That sucks. I lost my Benchmade Griptillian my godmother bought me 2 years ago while hammock camping in the woods. I looked a few hours for it and ended up stepping into a large ground hornet nest and got stung 10 good times before running faster than a bolt of lightning. To this day I regret losin...

I always figured if I needed to break a car window a rock, stick, or flat bottom of my shoe would suffice for that task. And be a bit safer in the process also.Freespirit wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 4:18 amThanks thanks so much. I am giving up on breaking car windows in case of emergency as criteria for a knife.

Re: A question on Tip up or Tip down Set-ups
I'm an odd one. 80% of the time still dare to pocket carry lol. I prefer tip down for safety reasons being I had a Banchmade Griptillian open in my pocket 2 times once cutting me pretty good. Other than that tip down sucks. I carry tip up despite self cut risk because I can deploy a blade a bit qui...

Re: Change my mind: the Shaman costs too much
I understand that they have to raise the price because they're in demand and they might not have the means of production to make enough of them. But 224 bucks! When you can get a PM2 for 150 or less. I don't think theres a 70+ dollar value difference. When it comes to looks sure. What's interesting...

Re: I like the Grasshopper
I had no idea about 12C27 used in Grasshopper 😲 now definitely considering buying one. Me neither. I seen these on Amazon and Knife Center listed as 3cr blade steel and always passed. Well I looked at the blade one day up close on Knife Center and it was marked as 12C27. I called them to see if thi...
