Thank you for the explanation Mike, I will experiment and see which method of insertion works best for me.
Does the picture in the 2015 Spyderco catalog show the knife inserted in the first or the second position you describe above?

Bruno

Re: Enuff Sheath Update
My replacement Enuff sheath arrived today after a wait of just over two months - it's taken a while but as they say good things are worth waiting for! The new sheath works so much better than the old one - no rattle, holds on like a limpet and most importantly doesn't eject the knife without the own...

Re: Tilting the sharpmaker
A Sharpmaker rod under one end is about three degrees. For general durability and similar concerns it takes some pretty demanding work to even need a 20 dps bevel let alone a higher one. Thanks for the advice Cliff. I know what you mean - the BK2 is not really a knife in the conventional sense of t...

Re: Tilting the sharpmaker
Here's a simple online triangle calculator I sometimes use. http://ostermiller.org/calc/triangle.html" target="_blank As far as technique, the easiest thing I have found is to tape or glue a round pencil or dowel to the exact center of the bottom of the base then rock the base like a see-...

Tilting the sharpmaker
Greetings all, In one of his videos Cliff Stamp shows how you can put coins under the end of the sharpmaker in order to vary the angle of the base and hence the rods, to deal with knives that are ground at angles greater than 20 degrees per side, or just to experiment. Here's my situation: I am doin...

Re: Explaining the difference between G10 and Micarta
Yeah, well, there aren't many unlined G-10 or Micarta designs anymore. Are you referring to designs in the Spyderco lineup or in general? Cold Steel use unlined G10 for the handles of their Recon One, AK-47 and American lawman knives, and those designs are incredibly strong. I saw a destruction tes...

Agreed! The Endura 4 with its steel liners and 4 way clip is IMO just as strong and capable a knife as the police.Doc Dan wrote:That would then make it an Endura.

I thought glass was a supercooled liquid? No offense bro., that myth has been debunked...a case of bad science that rivals Piltdown Man... Re: Explaining the difference between G10 and Micarta
The difference between the three are generally determined by the material that makes up the reinforcing cloth layers. G-10: Fiberglass - strands of glass woven into a cloth Micarta: commonly linen; any cloth really Carbon Fiber: strands of carbon woven into a cloth I think this is the key to gettin...

Explaining the difference between G10 and Micarta
Greetings everyone, What do you think is the best way to explain the difference between G10 and Micarta to somebody who is interested in knives but not all that technically inclined? A person who understands what fabric/cloth is and what glue/epoxy is but who doesn't understand what carbon fiber or ...

Re: TriAngle Can't Sharpen
As Rodloos says, there is some variance in edge angles, and Spyderco is one of the few knife companies that actually pays attention to getting their angles consistent. With other knife companies the edge angles could be pretty much anything. One of the mistakes I made when first using the sharpmaker...

Re: Recommendation: SPY-DK and Back Spring Tension
I got a Spy-DK very recently, so haven't really put much use on mine. As others have said, it's like a small UKPK or Caly 3, with an incredibly acute, needle-like point. This is one of those Spydercos with a very thin grind and perfect distal taper, really optimised for slicing. The secondary bevel ...

Re: What came first the Endura or the Delica?
I would say not really. There are as many differences as there are similarities between the Police and the Endura, especially when you go back to the originals. They were designed by the same person for somewhat similar purposes, but it wasn't a case of "Let's take the Police and change it to ...

Re: What came first the Endura or the Delica?
Define "derived from". The Police Model came before the Endura, so everything learned from it influenced everything that came after. Good question, I should have been more precise. What I mean to ask is do they exhibit a parent/child design relationship. So for example, the Delica is basi...

Sal answers about half way down. http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=58831&p=838730 Thanks for the link, very informative. However this does not answer my first question as to whether the Endura design was derived from the police model. This information is not on the Spyderwiki page...

Re: What came first the Endura or the Delica?
Does anyone know if the Endura was derived from the Police model? They seem very similar but I know that for Sal every knife is treated as a new design.
Also, were the Endura and Delica lightweights from the beginning, or did they begin in stainless steel or G10?

Re: Delica, saber ground rediscovered
Just got my first Delica, one of the standard Saber ground D4s, and I too love the feel of this knife with this grind. On the Endura (my very first Spyderco was an Endura 4) the Saber grind results in a relatively massive blade which seems to dominate the feel of the knife but with the Delica it see...

Re: Spyderco paramilitary 2
As others have said this is one of the finest, most refined designs that Spyderco have produced - literally a father and son design! There's a couple of things that I have found about this piece that make it one of my less caried knives: 1. I find the butt end of the knife (where the lanyard hole is...
