Thanks to info. from the forum and esp. the side by side comparisons by iwolf81, I purchased a kuhkri (on the way). Problem for me is that I never have the opportunity to handle spydies before buying. It's pretty hard to plunk down significant cash on sight alone. There isn't a dealer likely to carr...

Thanks Deacon for posting the link to the catalogues and to whomever went to the trouble to scan them in the first place. What a tremendous resource for fishing.

Way to lighten the mood. My tractor is stuck in the middle of my driveway, I've gone through 7 gallons of diesel in the last day shoving snow around, and I don't have any more and can't get past it! I needed a lightener.

I too have a few Bark River knives. If you want tool stool as opposed to stainless, thats the way I'd go. I've also pondered some of Blind Horse Knives stuff--they have some similarly sized blades in D2--or for that kind of money, go Dozier knives If you like the grinds on the Bushcraft and having a...

CRAZY! If stabbings can't be minimized in a prison--as close to a total control environment as is economically feasible, how are they to be minimized on the street by laws? Shall we also ban glass bottles (obvious), brick paving (might hit someone), trees (sharp stick or club), tire irons, golf club...

Well, they are expensive, that's why I'd like to see a production model, but I just can't agree with obscenely expensive, no offense to you Mr. Deacon. I, and a bunch of guys on the forum, and perhaps even you, didn't blink an eye to drop $70 more or less on our mules, and I doubt there's any more t...

Blade saver

I don't know about you guys, but even though I know its a bad idea, I've damaged several knives by using the blades to pry open a paint can or some similar nonsense. That only happened a time or time before I figured out that a key isn't a knife blade. So I proceeded to bend several keys. Of course ...

.005mm tolerance is not that tight, any modern CNC machine center could easily meet or exceed that tolerance by quite a bit, and do that over and over again. Sebenza's cost what they do because people are willing to pay that much for a pocket knife. True, but everything costs what it costs because ...

I love G10, haven't really gotten used to the idea of FRN. I'd have to guess that the cost difference is largely labor/tooling. Once set up to mold FRN, my guess is that spyderco can make an awful lot of handles at little cost becuase fewer hands need to touch the scales. Molds probably last a while...

Cosmo knives--www.cosmoknives.com. He agreed to make this "Carpenter's" knife for me last year. Great and easy to deal with online. I think turn around was about 6 weeks, but he seems like he might be busier now. Extra pouch on sheath is for nail sets/pencils or to hang a tape measure.

I put some thick wool gloves on and was able to close my M2, but it wasn't easy by any means. Examining the knife, it does seem that a more pronounced protrusion wouldn't interfere with comfort so long as the protrusion was on one side, the side facing the open part of the hand. Would be difficult t...

Did I miss something, or could one have just glued/epoxied the scales on? If you need to tighten the lanyard tube this is what I'd do: 1. get a nail set or countersink drill bit, whichever you can find that matches radius best. 2. use shims in butt portion of knife between liners to make sure that d...

Add--I've used sandpaper spray glued onto old surfacing plate, really great for bulk sharpening chisels and plane blades with a rolling jig, 'cause the plate is big enough to mount about 8 half sheets going all the way through the grits. Never got used to it for knives.

+1 for adding another category for jigs, seems worth it to pull that category out especially considering the host of the forum. After reading some knifemakers' comments, I recently switched from waterstones to Norton 8" x 3" oilstones. I still use either 8000 grit japanese waterstone or st...
