I prefer diamond emulsion 4micron 2,1, and .5 on basswood. I buy the basswood at the hardware store ($3) in 1/8 thickness, 24in length and cut down to size of strops I need. Gives a very nice refined finish.

My first submission. Forced patina.

My version of a forced-patina. Started with a white vinegar bath to get the grey hue then moved to white wine vinegar to obtain movement. Then added balsamic vinaigrette for the rich colors. Moved onto another white vinegar to blend them all a bit. Resharpened. Viola. Thanks for your encouragement.

I have a para 3 in all blade steels offered. All good. Honestly, I find the darker g10 colors better for my edc especially when wearing my tight skinny jeans... gotta carry the blade in back pocket. Remember how there was only one batch of these Maxamet PM2's released, and how the future of the next batch is uncertain? Sal himself said that they're "Still evaluating." Well I suspect this is why. I currently have 3 (2 are being given as Christmas gifts on Sunday to my dad and brother)...

I have contacted Spyderco. They were great about it. Said I could return it for credit to apply towards another knife. But back to my dilemma, I don’t know if I should because I may not see another pm2 maxamet, if they decide to discontinue production of this combination. What would you do?
