Re: Gayle Bradley - 5 Year review

Nice review Zenith. That's a nice looking knife.

I always enjoy the photos you take of you using your knives.

Re: Will there be another C-60 run?

I'm optimistic that there will be more runs of the C-60 down the road. Because with the great surge of popularity that this new Sprint Run has generated I'm hoping that will change Sal's mind. There are so many people that never got a chance to land one of the originals or one of the 2011 Sprint Ru...

Re: Cruwear PM2 Lanyard Tube size

I do believe that the factory lanyard tubes are a thin metal and bent (/widened, I don't know the correct term) to hold tight to the liner. I'm not sure how great the tolerances of the holes are, but I think a machined lanyard hole like that is likely to move once you put it in there. It probably wo...

As far as I know, the Pride Integrity Guts Police and some of the Swiss made Walkers are pretty high value, low availability models.

Re: Dragonfly steels… and other things

You might see one or two special steels per year. Just stick at it and keep your eyes open. The new salt steel is probably nice for you.

Some people might sell some or have extras if you let them know you're looking, like in your signature line.

Spydie + SAK
Is that 1 Spyderco and 1 Spyder Pack or just 1 Spyder Pack? =P

I carry three normally, if I'm going in the woods or an area that I don't know, or a barbecue, I usually carry one extra.

Re: Any carbon steel Spyderco knives?

Thank goodness Spyderco lets us get some knives with a variety of steel. Does 52100 really patina more than Super Blue? I feel like I look at Super Blue and I can see it patina. I think they said the white steels patina easier than Super Blue. I have a Calypso Junior that’s a safe queen, so no pati...

Re: Stop Lock...What is it?

Man, for the longest time all we had was the patent information.

At least now we have the Ouroboros. It's a pretty neat lock if you ask me. My end user opinion is that it operates kind of like the ball bearing lock, but the release goes up/down instead of front/back.

Sheesh, all the times I've driven past Fredericksburg (not that many) and I didn't even know Knife Center was located there.

I should probably visit some of my local stores!

I think my brother's back is messed up from carrying a lot of stuff.

They'll be paying more disability.

Re: Blade off center & quality control

In my experience, it's not at the top of the priority list. I feel like it would increase the production cost something like 50% to try to make sure they were all centered. I would rather have a lower costing knife than pay to have the blade centered when closed. There are people who say "if yo...

Re: What was your first Spyderco?

Mine was a white micarta combo edge Goddard Jr. It is still a pretty amazing little knife. At first, I didn't like the look of the hump. I have dropped that thing way too many times trying to do the spyder drop. =\

Before that I bought a plain edge Byrd Crossbill, I don't know if that counts.

Re: I want a 4” Spydiechef

Seems like a good idea. I'd be in depending on price, David's FRN version might be a good idea, but the FRN molds usually need to sell a lot of knives of the normal version to make happen. I picked up a Chokwe because some person on here said they used it for some light duty food cutting. It might b...

I have a pair of Q-Balls, a couple Dodos, and used to have a D'Allara (3D handle older gen) and Phoenix. They're all somewhat difficult for me to close. It's not impossible, the angles that I have to bend my fingers at to close it one handed make my fingers hurt after about 10 closings. Two handed c...

What ever happened to CTS-20CP?

This steel was featured on one of the first Para 2 sprints. It was Carpenter's version of CPM-S90V. I don't know if I've ever heard anyone say it was better or worse than CPM-S90V. No one ever seems to talk about it. Why haven't we seen this steel on anything but that one sprint run? I feel like we ...

I think the steel has been used quite a bit nowadays. This thread was created about 5 years ago and I think we've had several models made with it.

Maybe take a look around to see what other custom makers have used it.
