Re: Does anyone else wish for a standard scale color other than black?
The Chaparral LW is a good case in point. I'm not aware of anyone complaining that the scales aren't black. It looks like the Sage 5 LW has black scales? Would anyone be upset if they went with the same gray as the Chaparral? It might even be the deciding factor for some who are on the fence about b...

Re: Does anyone else wish for a standard scale color other than black?
I think navy blue would probably be the best alternative to black. Still pretty stealthy and low profile, for those who want, or need, it to be.

Does anyone else wish for a standard scale color other than black?
It's always a bit of a bummer when I like everything about a new release, except for the black scales I can see keeping it a darker color, but how about navy blue, dark grey, dark green or dark brown?

Re: Eric Glesser breaks down the Para 3 LW!
BD1N is fine with me, I'm looking forward to trying it. I'd prefer pretty much any scale color over black, though.

Very nice video:

I'm not sure how to embed it, if someone else does, that would be great.

Will the Para 3 LW come in colors and BD1N?
It seems there will be many exclusives/sprints of this model. What I'm wondering is, will there be any versions with a handle color other than black, in the standard BD1N steel, like the Delica and Endura? One of the main reasons I want one is to try BD1N. I'd much prefer the handle in a color other...

Re: Where is the love for the Manix XL??
I'd love to have a Manix 2 XL, but I can't bring myself to spring for one in S30V and black G-10. Also not interested in the S90V/CF (sprint/exclusive?), as it appeals to me even less.

Ikuchi with titanium scales and CTS-XHP?
The Ikuchi looks like it’s going to do very well, and I've been daydreaming about the next version. I seem to remember Paul Alexander saying somewhere that he originally wanted to do it with titanium scales? I’m not a big fan of Ti, in general, but I think it would work very well in this case. Maybe...

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread
Lock types make a big difference in that space between the edge and the front of the handle. Plus there are also many other factors that influence. The "Rock Jumper" model (not out yet) does address this concept in another way. ... sal https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83...

Xplorer,
Thanks for the excellent and informative post, and doing the testing so I don't have to I think both 3V and 4V are worth trying, and would buy a Manix 2 XL in either one. If they actually made it in both, the choice might come down to which handle material/color combo I prefer.

Re: Where's the 3V?
emanuel, Why do you feel the the need to argue so vigorously against other Spyder enthusiasts getting a steel they want to try in a folder? If you think it’s a waste, then, obviously, you aren’t being forced to buy anything. Do you think making folders in 3V is going to prevent Spyderco from making ...

Re: Delica 4 Hawk?
Looking into it, a G-10 Harpy or Merlin sprint, in FFG VG-10, would work for me:

The BBS exclusive Lil Matriarch PE is interesting, but I prefer hawkbill over s-curve, and it’s not FFG.

Re: Delica 4 Hawk?
Did they ever make an FRN or G-10 Harpy? Definitely not interested in SS. I had a SuperHawk way back, but it was too big and bulky. IMO, the Tasman is the ideal size and weight for a hawkbill. I like that they used the D4 handle for the Tasman 2. I am tempted to just get one, but have held off.

Delica 4 Hawk?
I am very fond of my old Tasman 1 PE, but I really want this blade in FFG and a steel with better PE edge retention. An LC200N Tasman Salt 2 would be great, but a Delica 4 Hawk in VG-10 would also fill the bill. We know the Delica 4 handle will accommodate a hawkbill blade, so it shouldn’t be too ha...

Re: Let's get some SRS-15 steel on some FRN This Year!
Similar properties to Cruwear AND stainless? SRS-15 certainly sounds like it's worth trying. I'm in for an Endura and/or Stretch 2. I'd prefer solid over a laminated.

A tip for opening the Ikuchi
If you use the thumb opening method, the knife has a tendency to jump out of your hand, if you’re not careful. Rather than holding it vertically, like a lighter, try holding it horizontally, with your palm up. I have found it is much less likely to jump out of your hand this way.

Re: Do Super Steel Alloys End Carbon Steel's Reign for Knives or not?
I don't like rust either. I doubt there are many who do (patina, on the other hand...). I do find that that are some advantages to non-stainless steels that I want to explore. EDCi Solution enables me to do this with less concern. Even though stainless is stain-resistant and (unless you use H1 or L...

Re: Best Blade Length for Self Defense; And What Do You Carry For This Purpose
Good thread. I wish we had more SD for knives threads on the forum. Unfortunately they tend illicit a lot of hand wringing, incredulity, Rambo and Mall Ninja witticisms, and of course testimonials on the superiority of fire arms. +1 There used to be more good threads on the subject that didn't get ...
