Re: China

Wow, how is it that you are able to ignore the fact that something IS happening, that it HAS been happening for a number of years? To go back to one of many examples I gave years ago, GE invested a BILLION dollars in it's Louisville production facility and is bringing back ALL major appliance manufa...

Re: China

This shift began about five years ago and will take decades. I'm not getting "too carried away" by pointing out what is actually happening. This is happening under current policy. Changes could cause faster or slower change.

Things in China could move much more quickly.

Re: China

One more point. The efforts to build the Chinese economy for the long-term are doomed as long as there is no protection for intellectual property. The rip-off economy of China gave them a decades long growth spurt but ultimately soured companies on investing in China and is preventing domestic innov...

China

Several years back I made a number of posts indicating that the tide had turned and that jobs were flowing back to the US from Asia and that Chinese exports were starting an inevitable decline. I just heard the other day that Warren Buffet, the smartest investor that I know of, has been buying compa...

Re: Being politically correct

Many good comments. Political correctness itself has been politicized so that many see it exclusively in terms of what the "other side" is doing. I've always hated it going back to when I started college in 1973 and couldn't get over how prevalent it was. The fact that politics and religio...

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Announcement

Very nice forum knife and kudos for doing this for the forum, but I'm sorry to see another Native. It's the third Native in a row and suffers in comparison to Eric's opulent 2013 Forum Knife. Since the 2013 forum knife was more expensive it isn't surprising that I like every aspect of it better. I c...

Re: Back where I started. Lil Temperance.

The Lil' Temp was my third must have Spydie. My first Spydie, a Delica convinced me that Spyderco made functionally fine knives. The first that grabbed me aesthetically was the Caly Jr. I had to buy one and found it worked as good as it looked. Then came the Kiwi. I ended up buying two with differen...

Yes, Spyderco listens.

I'll add my thanks for my campaign for dark green G-10 being rewarded by, among others, the Para 2 204P exclusive and the 2013 Forum Knife.

Re: Is there a Para 3?

I just don't get this. In the Spyderco naming system a Para 3 would replace a knife that has such high demand that it took a year for production to catch up. It has never been said the 3 was a replacement. As I alluded to, Spyderco has never used the same model name with a version number attached t...

The slightly smaller one is the original Para. Plenty of them out there. I hope they don't mess with perfection.

Re: Where's Deacon?

I've been following the forum and I post once in a blue moon. Very sorry to hear that Paul is missing. His absence really diminishes the forum.

I hope to get to OKCA next year after a two year absence and see some great people and knives.

Re: Your top 2 Spyderco folders and WHY.

Cutting apples, bread, cheese... I really need 3.5" or greater. I'll go with the one I carry the most, the Southard, which pretty near maximizes the edge length on a 3.5" blade. The belly makes it a good rope cutter as well and despite the strong tip I've used it to cut out a stencil like ...

Re: Mid-Year Supplement Discussion Thread....

Interesting that the Proficient, which looks so much like a refined Bushcraft is not described as a bushcraft knife. I guess the combo of S90V and full flat grind rather than saber make it unsuitable for batoning. While blade thickness is about the same, the UK Bushcraft carried that 3.6mm spine mos...

I picked the ball bearing lock. The fact that the ball rolls should result in much less friction and wear.

Re: Mr. Sal, a Lil Temp 2 question

I'm a big Lil' Temp fan who has been a little negative about past prototypes of the LT2. Having seen the latest proto I'm finally liking the handle shape and think it does capture the spirit of the original.
