.....
Now that you mention it, yeah, that is odd! That would be the perfect choice.

Re: Models you'd like to see return.
I have questions. Have discontinued models actually disappeared? Not in my experience of the secondary market, where, by the way, the chance of counterfeits diminishes the older a model is. Would re-continued discontinued models be better, with screws in place of pins, with newer steels in place of...

If I HAVE to pick a folder?
Military, full stop.
It's stainless, long enough blade for protecting yourself if you have too, good shape and grind for all manner of utility, sturdy build quality.
Failing that..... you know the Police SS is a sturdy gal, never failed me yet!

Re: Models you'd like to see return.
There are a lot of models I'd like to see return. The Rookie and Leafstorm would be a good start. Also, I think the Kiwi 4 deserves another chance! I liked the Natural G10 on the leafstorm, it was pretty, for lack of a better word, and while it was a simple design, I like the way it looked. If Spyd...

Models you'd like to see return.
What spyderco model/family would you like to see return from the dead and walk among the living once more? For me, I'd personally like to see the Warrior return. I always wanted one, but by the time I was able to afford one, they were discontinued. I think them returning, it LC, with Boltaron sheath...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?
The Kimber Pepperblaster is illegal in CA. Blackjacks/saps are also illegal in CA. Jim Didn't know they were, don't know CA laws, don't live in CA. Cane or walking stick it is, then! Honestly that's the best choice of the bunch, anyhow. I carry a Canemasters cane! ;) Blackjacks and Saps are illegal...

Re: Small Folders Okay Gor Self Defense?
Okay.... I'm gonna hop in here. First off, a folding knife is never a great choice for SD. Yeah, it can work if you have nothing else, but I really don't recommend it. Small fixed blades are also usually not a great option unless they're specialized for the task and you know what it is you're doing....

ARK is very slicey.
I've not tested many SE blades, but I would also put the jumpmaster 2 up for consideration.
She's a beast.

Re: Spyder Classics: The C-59 Shabaria
I have the gray Shabaria in my collection.
Easily one of my favorites, fits my hand very, very well.
If it were a fixed blade, I'd happily carry it for SD.
Overall, it's a great knife, packs a lot of cutting power.

Re: New Double Sided CBN Benchstone
Since it's using a carbon steel embryo, does that make this stone prone to rusting, or does it have some sort of plating to protect it? Or is it more like 4140, and it'll only rust if you leave it wet? If using with water, just wash and dry when done. Bar keepers friend powder can fix any problems ...

Re: Colors - Talkin' Story - Marketing
I like colors because it gives the knife more visual appeal. Black is nice and all sometimes, but it gets boring when EVERY knife looks the same in some variant of "Black handle, silver blade, black handle, black blade." Colors make the knife stand out, makes it look different unique, give...

Re: Can I sharpen steel x with a Sharpmaker? The answer is yes!
The question never was "can you sharpen X steel" It was "do you have the patience to sharpen X steel" Spyderco doesn't use a steel that's harder than ceramic so technically yes any steel can be sharpened but when most people say no I think it's more of a willingness problem than...

Re: Spyderco Custom Shop
As long as they let me pick bright, colorful options, and have my choice of steel, I'd be happy to. I'd love to make a custom police, for instance, or a custom endura! I doubt they'd have any fixed blades on offer, but if they did I'd just about do a backflip if I'm allowed to make a large stainless...

Re: Reveal 8 ETA?
Janisong for USA release Dodo in upgraded materials Collaboration with Grimsmo on a Norseman with a Spydie hole in it would be my top choice! Don't do that. Don't give me hope! I'd like more fixed blades. I like fixed blades, especially large, stainless fixed blades. A return of the Southfork, Rock...

Sprint. I pre-ordered at KC, but I've seen it on like 3-5 other vendors. It's a beautiful piece, I'm very excited and can't wait to hear when we'll be seeing them.

Any of you kind folks know the ETA on the Shabaria with the Grey G10? I've got on on pre-order, and the wait is making me climb the walls. :D
