Re: Itching for a new knife, but should I wait?

If you are looking for a salt, delica, or df then buy now. Nothing is holding you back unless you want a sprint run steel, but no predicting when a release might come. I don't expect any changes in design. If there are other knives you are interested in, the discontinued list has some good mark down...

I seem to recall that sal said they were planning a full range of similar kitchen knives to make a set. A larger chef's knife would be nice.

Birthday gift for my Dad

A few weeks ago we celebrated one of those big round number birthdays for my Dad. He is so hard to buy gifts for but this year I think I got him something he really likes, a sharp maker! My mom mentioned her frustration with his many pocket knives, go figure, but he couldn't sharpen them very well. ...

Re: Titanium grades

I know that some bicycles are made with 3Al/2.5v. It's so much easier to machine apparently. I'm not sure if the knife industry uses this as well.

Re: PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada

As they say, "freedom isn't free". Can you call or write to your local representative and make a stink about it? If enough voting citizens complain, then maybe something gets done. Otherwise, bored sub-urban lawmakers need to make a show of being hard on crime and propose stupid laws. At l...

Could you cut teeth in a delica or endura trainer?

Re: 2016 Discontinued List

I hope we see another rendition of the Foundry. It is like a giant Manbug. I think people just are not that into steel handles. I realize the concept was to use all Carpenter materials but I think that steel handle killed it. The upswept tip may not have helped either though. I don't mind upswept t...

Re: 2016 Discontinued List

Haven't heard much about the Foundry for a bit... and I guess that lead it here... I really like the foundry. The stainless handles seems to have enough contour to not slip in the hand. The stainless doesn't scratch nearly as easily as ti. It is a bit heavier than most other spydercos but it also s...

Can anyone say how it compares to the Bowie?
Handle looks more flat. Bowie seems to be highly recommended.
How is the blade shape? Tip pretty usable?

Re: Pro sharpening needed

I vote that you give the sharp maker a try. You have it. Maybe watch the video and start on a couple kitchen knives or other knife first to get the hang of it. Then just go for it. It's not so bad. Take your time. Pushing harder doesn't help. Keep the blade straight. You can do it.

Re: Most Scratch Resistant Ti Finishes?

I like ti but don't overlook stainless. My foundry has no scratches that I can see and it gets a lot of pocket time. The ti, yes. The high polish like the pits is the worst. The stepped chap has so many surfaces that it doesn't show. Fluted is probably similar. The mat finishes like mantra, myrtle, ...
