Ti Coloring

When coloring titanium is the same process used when coloring aluminum? (I assume not.) Please explain the differences. Also are there any benefits to the titanium, besides color?

Welcome. Depending on your experience with knives you may or may not be able to judge how good the steel is. I noticed a huge difference for G-10(my stainless steel Native) to VG-10(Bob Lum Chinese). I don't think you will be disappointed. Plus the spyderedge will stay sharp for a long time. Unless ...

When I went to Colorado on our family trip, I made plans to go and pick a Calypso up at the SFO. It is one of my many favorites!

I honestly like both carry styles. Both have there place. Just like serrated and plain edges.

The edge I prefer is the one I have with me. Seriously though, I like combo edges. Super sharp and great for starting tough cuts. I don't really carry a protection knife though.

Keep up the good work, most scouts don’t make it past 1st class.

I'm an Eagle Scout with three Eagle Scout Palms: Bronze, Gold, & Silver. There is a description of the palms in your Scout book.

No, your Toad is not unique. I have handled two, one of witch I own, and both do as you have described. The Toad is my favorite dress up knife.
And I have read that Spyderco did go to some trouble to design a clip for the Chinese folder.

For self defense 50/50 is the way to go. Those serrations help you start a tough cut. But I do agree the plainedge looks better.

The Boye dent is on the Native now and as far as I know there isn't a differance between the two clip moldels. The Boye dent is nice.
If you get the knife mail order you might want to ask about the dent.
