First, Toolin, I envy you greatly for having a lady who you think would appreciate a knife as a present. Think awful hard before you let her get away. I don't own either. The pictures I've seen of the MOP Delica are drop dead gorgeous. As much as I like it, must confess it looks more like a lady's k...

Hi Grant. My Wegner was more stiff than I could believe when I got it. Even now, at a point where I'm content with it, it is stiffer than every other folder I have. Spyderco makes their knives to tight tolerances. They allow/provide less space between the edge of the tang and the insides of the hand...

I think I'll be getting a Ladybug for my keys quite soon. A couple days ago, took them off my Kubotan where they've been for 16 years. What a relief to get rid of that big, ungainly thing! Plus, it opens up space for another knife! What could be better. I don't have either an Endura or Delica. So a ...

Hi Mike -- When I first got the Goddard Ltwt, I carried it a lot. I'd been carrying my little CRKT LUS in my left pocket, tho it's not really lefty friendly. Wanted something a bit larger, and wanted the ambidexterity. Was fortunate enough to get my Goddard from SMKW on their closeout price. (Sorta ...

SMKW carries very few Spydercos. Bayou LaFourche: http://64.49.193.154/subcatmfgprod.asp?0=263&1=264&2=1083&6=2 has the FRN plain edge for under $45. Didn't see an micarta handles. New Graham has both the FRN and SS handles in plain edge -- at least showing. The FRN is a few cents cheape...

Don't recall hearing of any bad batches of AUS8. It is usually regarded as a fairly easy to sharpen steel, that takes a great edge, and holds it moderately well. There can always be a problem with a heat treat, but since the Endura is so popular, would have expect to have heard. Then again, my memor...

Its just a guess, dbcrossfire, but I think you'd be more likely to get some help on this if you provided the link to e-bay.

Thanks, VW. Appreciate it. Have read quite a bit about "furriners" having trouble ordering from the US. Are you aware of any problems when an American orders internationally from Canada? May give them a call. Just remembered deleting the link just a few days ago, trying to figure out why I...

Check out the ATR. Clay posted a picture in a thread yesterday or today. It is probably wise to keep in mind that Spdyerco is a business, which is affected by market trends. Look around. What are the latest big sellers? The EDC, the Chice, the Scallion, the new little SOG knife, the 2 new MicroTechs...

VW -- would you mind providing the URL of the Cutting Edge? I thought I had it, but can't find it. My search engines failed me utterly in the top 10-20.

Would really appreciate it,

Thanks,

Stare

Spyderco knives are not the least expensive on the market. But, by and large, I think they represent very solid value. CRKT offers a few knives that are less expensive, and they are good in fit and finish. But, all are liner locks -- well except for the Stiff KISSES and PECK and Companion. Many peop...

marauder2002 -- I think I'd be on the horn to Best Knives ASAP. Presumably they can get reimbursed by going backwards up their supply channel. You paid for a brand new knife, and didn't receive an adequate specimen. I think at this stage, it falls on the vendor.

Hey Samo. More great pics! I've been away from fishing too long. Is the first fish a catfish? Looks quite a bit like ours, except for the coloring. Can't remember the fin pattern exactly anymore. Too many years. I agree that the carp is beautiful. Am not convinced I would kiss it as your friend is d...

I only have the FRN model, but it is one of my favorites. I think it is extremely well designed, and offers great flexibility and utility. Should be there for one for self defense, should the need ever arise.

I carry it weakside, but it is carried more than any other knife I have, except my Sebenza.

Cool pics, Samo! Very interesting. I recently bought an E-Nep from a Thai fellow who haunts Blade Forums. Real cool knife, tho maybe not quite so handy for self defense as the parang. I like the look of the Bowie-type as well. Can you give us an idea in dollar terms how much such knives cost? FWIW -...

ruxton -- Hi. I just spent about 30 minutes writing out some pretty basic info on steel for you, then stupidly forgot to copy it before I went looking for a URL for you to use. Failed at that too. I can't bring myself to repeat it all. At the end of it, I referred you to the Steel FAQ at Blade Forum...

Thanks again for the pics, Clay. I vaguely remember some talk about the Salsa, but don't recall any about the ATR. It looks like quite a knife to me.

Is there another thread that gives specs on it? Curious to know size, type lock etc. Will run search after posting this.

Thanks, Clay for the explanation and pics. A very interesting looking knife. I gotta be sure to try to get one with the 440C blade. Looks like it could take hours figuring out the various potential grips. Cool! If I understand this right, the Cricket-bladed Meerkat will only ever be available in AUS...
