What is the difference other then color?
Except for my all black Manix 2, I prefer the clean cage.

Re: Southard Lock Stick
I had a Southard.....what do you mean by lock stick?
When I released, there was a slight resistance....but it is two different metals and I think that would be expected.

The perfect Spyderco.....
Perfect build quality. I bought a Manix 2 all black from Amazon, and the knife was flawless, but an obvious regret return. Box did not have the Spyderco tape on the end, knife was loose in the box....no plastic bag. A white sticker was placed over the Spyderco barcode and a very large barcode label ...

Re: Soap and water cleaning
I do soap and water cleaning and a thorough rinse with very hot water. Shake as much water out and hit with compressed air. I then go outside and spray WD-40 liberally into every crevice with the knife open and closed. Never had a rust issue and even disassembled an Endure Wave I have had for many ...

Re: Maintenance tips?
I am an avid shooter and tried the whole Frog Lube thing. It it not so special, only that it is non-toxic. I treated a Glock Gen 2 G19, Springfield XD-45 and two of my AR builds, a BCM and BCM BCG. My other BCM used BF CLP. After a couple thousand rounds in each.....zero difference in wear etc. But ...

My first Byrd, a Cara Cara 2 FRN
Last weekend I stopped by my local Spydie dealer and bought a Cara Cara 2 FRN Combo Edge. Never had a Byrd and the price was under $25 with tax. Fit is spot on. centered blade, zero blade play and perfect grind. Finish is what I call work serviceable. Meaning none of the finish issues would impeded ...

Great pics!
I miss Colorado as I only get to go back once a year. I was born in Golden and lived off of Colfax on Youngfield RD.

Re: Sway me Stretch in SuperBlue or ZDP-189
Well ZDP-189 holds an edge longer and can be a pain if you push it. I have a few ZDP-189 Spydies and I like to just give them a touch up when used a bit. Does not take long at all. SB is a joy to sharpen and holds a good edge...but can be brought back from dull pretty quickly. My SB Stretch was a bi...

Gratz!
I will say though, I prefer the clear cage. It looks better and is just as strong.

Re: Should Super Blue Delica be regular production?
I think a regular SB production knife like the Delica would be a failure. I have a SB Stretch that I carry regularly and it is looking like it has been through the ringer. My ZDP-189 Endura has had more use and looks nearly flawless. The 420J1 used in the SB Delica scratches like H-1, but stains eas...

Re: Steel liners maintenance?
I will use hot water and soap to clean the knife then a liberal amount of WD-40 to displace the water. Then use mineral oil in the joint. Never had rust issues.

Re: Got a counterfeit Dragonfly Salt 2 for my birthday.
Very true and very sad. :( Hopefully there will be an eventual solution to the whole fake Spydie issue... There could be a unique generated serial number made up of numbers, letters and symbols etched under the steel type on the blade. Spyderco could have a database that when the serial number is l...

Re: Got a counterfeit Dragonfly Salt 2 for my birthday.
The last 5 reviews on Amazon of the knife have noted that it is a fake, or is of really crappy quality. Screwdriver's review is also there. It looks like a handful of these have leaked out. I expect that the next outlet will be E-bay if Amazon shuts down the fakes. It's disturbing and angering to s...

Re: Got a counterfeit Dragonfly Salt 2 for my birthday.
They have a no questions asked return policy. Just return it, problem solved. I have no problem with companies who make mistakes. Even Spyderco does/has made mistakes. Customer service is the key factor here. As long as a company has good customer service it doesn't matter. I have had good luck wit...
