Re: Spyderco Seconds Sale Scores

Just picked up an SE Massa Ayoob. Not a knife I'd planned to buy, but for $113, including shipping? As aicolainen said, worth the 5 minutes (including internal debate) it took me.

Strider is quite the hot topic on other forums with the whole stolen valor issue, a lot of people upset about it so might be able to find some for less on the secondary.
How hot a topic can it be when it's the "debate" has been going on since at least 2005? :yawn

Re: LeafJumper

I know there was a discussion on this, but it was not all that conclusive. Do we have a better idea under what angle are the serrations ground? They're 20°, like all the other Seki serrations. It's only the Golden ones that are now sub 15°. However, even at the more obtuse angle, this knife is a be...

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?

Small lanyards with decorative beads. I get the use of a lanyard that your hand fits in. But the fancy little string and bead remind of something I can’t say on here 😉. Those aren't lanyards, they're fobs. They can be used to improve your grip on a small handle, although I suspect most just use the...

Re: LeafJumper

Got my Leafjumper K390 SE, thanks to the Summer Sale. First Seki lockback I've received in 20 years of buying them where the lockbar doesn't stand proud when the knife is locked open. :grin-big eyes

Re: The tip up/ tip down debate continues

Tip up, tip down, don't care. :yawn But I did switch my Maxamet PM2 to tip down because the lanyard hole puts the clip off center, tip up, and I didn't like the way it hung in my pocket.

Re: Problem: Uneven Grinds (MINE not Spyderco's)

Off the top of my head, but have you considered the possibility that the bevel changes in width because the thickness of the blade changes with the distal taper? When sharpening freehand, one can compensate but a fixed system is just that -- fixed.

Re: Question about Tri-Angle Sharpmaker and Wusthof knives

A honing steel's purpose is to align a rolled edge. A couple of passes on the Sharpmaker, using the white triangles, will do the same thing, while removing very, very little steel.

Nope, I prefer to age mine the old fashioned way. By using them.

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!

Seki did a pretty good job on these. Lockbar stands a little proud when closed, typical of Seki, but fit and finish are otherwise good, the bevels are even, and the blade is ground nicely thin.

Re: St. Nick’s Exclusive red and black Goddard!

I'm actually surprised how fast they've gone. It's a great design, in a great steel at a great price so I have one on the way, but I also can't help but think a lot of modern collectors basically see a Buck 110 when they look at it. Buck still sells a boatload of 110s, nearly 60 years after it was ...

Those ''grooves'' shouldn't be there ! It's not a feature, it's a grinding flaw.
And you know this was not a deliberate decision, made by Spyderco and the manufacturer in Seki, how? Did you check with Sal and the Spyderco crew?

Re: I had enough of Seki ''hiccups''

I'm sure you know more about machining and grinding than I do. My point is you knew, or should have known, what the serrations were going to look like before you purchased the knife.
