Re: Rex 45 vs K390?

... I thought Spyderco only used stainless steel liners but on the original Police 4 it appears they did not ... I recall a post from Sal saying something along the lines that they invest a lot of time matching the materials of given knife to assure longest possible life span and to avoid excessive...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

I'd be happy with one. Do sprint ever make it to Europe? I am not saying that every single Sprint model can easily be bought in Europe, but recently has Lamnia be doing a good job in this regard. Check their webpage and go to 'To be available soon' - you will find both the Catcherman and also the r...

Re: The ultimate Delica

The tip I did freehand on a diamond plate and it was a surprisingly quick job which makes me wonder if I wasn’t a little sloppy with the serrations. Thanks for the feedback. Just to this point - this is always the case. The serrations have next-to-zero surface contact with the rod. thus the sharpen...

Re: The ultimate Delica

Yeah, some scratches are pretty much unavoidable. I did some thinning of the left bevel (a variety of diamond based abrasives) on my Ayoob and after than went first for 15 deg and after that 20 deg (so the edge is 20). Lot's of work indeed. I guess I need to post it eventually. The way the knife now...

Re: The ultimate Delica

On one had I really WANT an SE in k390, on the other hand I am also a it weary about the sharpening. I have recently spent 3 hours of sharpening (in several sessions) of our MAC Superior bread knife (has a continuous wave style of serrations) as it was really dull after several years of use and it n...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

For what it's worth - and especially since Spyderco is getting some heavy critique on the price of the Bodacious in the other thread - I think the price is very reasonable for this slim fella.

Re: New Dragonfly

Recurve S would be a pure fun blade - not sure it would work with the handle design though (someone with the right software and skill could probably draw a mockup) I don’t know about Software, but I’ve got a sharpie, a dragonfly and a black book to put it on top of 😜 The closed photo is so we can s...

Re: Chief with compression lock?

Chief is not 'my knife', but the Rex45 one I had was so incredibly well made - the lock was smooth and solid. It would be a shame to swap it for a compression lock. It is one of the best back locks I ever used and on par with my Cruwear Ayoob.

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

I must admit that I am very much intrigued by it. I am not 100% sure I would use it enough, but I like the design a lot. Maybe it could serve as my barbecue knife. EDIT: I must say though - I still think that the black saber grind H1 looked more sexy, but LC200N is a lot better steel for most uses (...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement

Just get a k390 Delica, thin it, give it a gentle convex and you get as much high performance out of it as you can handle :)

This is probably one of those models that in 10-15-20 years, someone is going to post in a throwback thread and we all wish we had one.

Re: Blue Nishijin Stretch2 XL Damascus

I find this knife absolutely gorgeous. I can't help it. Call me a snob, but given the price of 320€ in Europe, I would love to see a different steel than VG10 in the sanmai, but I understand that that just may not be possible (available).

Maybe consider the Rockjumper with SE edge if that would fit your use. Adding a k390 Leafjumper would not be a mistake either.

Re: Future Rockjumpers?

Honestly - if you want a k390 wharncliffe, then you better get one of those that are either still available, or were recently discontinued. Chances for a k390 Rock Jumper are very, very slim.

Re: Bodacious Discussion

I think it is fair to assume, that if Bodacious will become a success (I think a lot will depend on how the knife will sit in hand as the knife shape as such is super practical, no question about that) then we will eventually see a CruCarta version. But I guess we need a little patience. I would gue...

Re: Will they ever have full Superblue again?

Let's not get fixated too much on one single carbon steel. There are more interesting candidates like ApexUltra for example and a variety of SuperBlue similar steels in Germany (with an arguably varying level of availability) like 1.2562, 1.2442, 1.2519, etc. And let's just not discard the good old ...
