Re: High Hollow Grind

Has Spyderco ever done a hollow grind that goes into the opening hole? If the hollow grind stops before the opening hole starts, it’s a hollow sabre grind in my mind. Swayback is the most recent one that comes to mind Yup and the Southard as I discovered when I started looking at mine. https://i.po...

James Y - I still have a Liner Action here somewhere, that did have a beautiful grind. Pity mine is partly serrated and the lock now ...

JD, you don't strike me as a guy that would carry one of these newfangled flipper bearing Ti framelock thangs ;)

How often do you carry discontinued knives?

So how often do you carry discontinued knives? I seem to prefer the older models (but not as much as I thought it transpires). I do understand and appreciate the fear that they may not be replaceable or repairable if they are lost or damaged. I also understand wanting to carry the latest releases. I...

Re: Bob Lum All Rounder ... a Spyderco version?

Hi PSquared, Bob Lum had offered the model to us while we met with him in Eugene. I told him that we'd prefer to mod the model a bit to make it easier to open. He declined so we declined and then Bob offered to Benchamde. sal Thanks for the reply Sal, not great news but always really fascinating to...

Bob Lum All Rounder ... a Spyderco version?

I didn’t want to derail Mr Blonde’s thread on that rare Chinese but the enthusiasm for Mr Lum’s designs is apparent. What would be the possibility of an All Rounder being made by Spyderco? Benchmade had a version they called the Dejavoo, full size and “mini” (3.25 in blade), that have been discontin...

Re: Which Spydercos Are In Your EDC Rotation?

I live in an urban environment and have no real use on a daily basis for a pocket knife unless I can invent one. I try to keep it sheeple friendly but seem to be carrying smaller knives by choice anyway these days. Most carried Spyderco's : Centofante Memory ("scotchbrited" to remove the blue ano) D...

Re: Collection Limiting Rules

Rules spoil hobbies. If you can afford it and it isn’t going to cause domestic strife then buy it.

Common sense needs to be applied, not rules.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Still the Bugout vs my new Watu. Broke down some boxes and did some food prep (including cutting some biltong (jerky) as a snack) this morning. As expected the Watu slices better but I'm not wild about the tip hitting the board doing push cuts in the kitchen. https://i.postimg.cc/c1nW3wMz/IMG_3727.j...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

The Watu I won in the calendar competition was delivered yesterday. Thank you Spyderco for running the competition!! So the Watu's clip got "softened" and I fidgeted with it in front of the TV last night. Today it is in my pocket with a favourite (very, very seldom do I carry two knives). https://i....

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

https://i.postimg.cc/8cCwL8FS/IMG-3702.jpg Junior and Choke (another under used knife in my accumulation) shared prep for a pork cheek braise. Whilst neither was awkward working with in the kitchen (an area where I grip knives without thinking about it and just use them), neither was spectacular ei...
