Re: Guillotine reverse auto compression lock
Well... the name "guillotine" doesn't inspire much confidence, does it?

Re: Caribbean Troubles
you all are making me nervous Don't be. If your knife is within specs (and obviously almost all of them are :)), I really think you'll be fine whether you disassemble it or not. Unfortunately, it also seems that if your Caribbean has this problem then disassembling it won't help one bit... since it...

Re: Caribbean Troubles
On the compression lock side however there are not as many points up forward where the scale fits into the liner Yes, I can see that now. That might indeed explain why only the scale on the lock side is shifting this way. Really a shame because I want to love this knife so much. The blade shape, st...

Re: Caribbean Troubles
Or just take note of the washer position before you remove them the first time. If I ever take the knife apart, I'll make sure to take close-up pictures at every step. And I'll definitely watch at least a video on the disassembly first (I think Nick Shabazz made one). The Caribbean still locks up s...

Re: Caribbean Troubles
in my experience, putting a comp lock knife back together is significantly less of a PITA than putting a backlock together Thanks, that's good to know. Of course I'm not trying to persuade you to disassemble your knife if you're not comfortable doing it! I may have to try it anyway if nothing else ...

Re: Caribbean Troubles
The second that I tighten the pivot enough so that there is no play in the assembly (what I mean by that is that the scales will wiggle around the pivot bolt) the blade will become unflickable and will only open and close with decent force. Loosen the pivot to the point where it flicks nicely and i...

Re: Swayback
What I ended up doing was a pinch grip with the blade and my left thumb in the hole and a sharp and short downward motion. The momentum snapped the handle into place. I'm sure there's a term for that type of opening that I'm unaware of. Oh yes, I see. I can't remember what it's called either but I'...

I open the knife.
See how it looks and feels for a brief moment.
Then I close the knife.
I remove the clip.
I open the knife again and start cutting something. Anything, at this point :)

Re: Six-Thousand Nine-Hundred Forty Days
How could anyone ever forget? On that day I truly understood why denial is often considered to be the first stage of grief: I watched the same footage over and over again (as many of us probably did) but my brain just wouldn't accept it. What was happening was both real and impossible at the same ti...

Re: What are you buying from Reveal 6?
Definitely the Atlantic Salt (PE for sure, maybe SE as well).
The Wharncliffe Manbug is very tempting but I might wait and see if more Salt LC200N are on the way: a LC200N Ladybug/Manbug would be even better. Or, as long as I'm dreaming, a Salt Jester :)

Re: Trivia Question: What Spyderco Has A Clip As Long As The Blade?
Or the Equilibrium. The clip might even be longer than the blade on this one (certainly longer than the cutting edge anyway).

It's been the S110V Native 5 for quite some time now... but I have a feeling the Watu might change that.

The Delica, because it perfectly embodies the spirit of Spyderco: simple, versatile, efficient yet very distinctive.
And the Dodo... because who else could have designed that knife? :)

A beautiful knife. I like the size and I don't care about the clip because I would remove it anyway. Not cheap, but it seems to be worth it.
Not exactly a lefty-friendly knife, though...
