I wasn't going to get one for a couple of reasons: 1) I promised my wife before the release date that I wasn't going to purchase any knives this month, 2) I really haven't had my eye on anything recently, 3) I really don't need any new knives. But, 1) I made the promise before the announced release...

I'm curious what you guys intended use is on this particular mule. I don't know a whole lot about REX 76 as it's a very rare steel to see used in knives. Are you guys planning on using it for a hard use utility knife, an outdoors fixed blade, an EDC, a kitchen steel? I'm just curious if you guys do...

I’m surprised I’m saying this but it looks like Rex 76 is an underrated steel… if it’s properties are similar the Rex 45 it should be very easy to sharpen compared to how good the edge retention is.

If you're brave enough to grab that purdy knife away from those terrifying creatures, I'd say do a fade with orange. Rex45 and orange is like peas and carrots.

I definitely associate burnt orange with Rex

I’m more interested in less vibrant more natural tones like od green darker reds and oranges. I don’t think I want any shade of blue for this particular knife. But I’m still open to ideas. Heck I’d try tie dye if I could figure out how to do it. For now I actually think the white isn’t too bad though.

I’m not sure how one would accomplish this… perhaps and oil base dye and a water based dye mixed?

By the way, if you still haven’t tried the Native 5 lw now is the time! This Rex 45 version is still available for $112! I have to say I do like it better than my Chaparral.

I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to get a Native. This is by far the best lock back I’ve used. These are still available at GPknives for 112$

How do you like 52100? What steel would you say it compares to form spyderco?

I bought one of these for a friend. He butchers chickens and rabbits with it- he said the edge retention is better than s30v. It's his favorite fixed blade.
