Eric Noldechoen -- Normark -- and Mike Sastre -- River City Sheaths -- are very highly regarded Kydex/Concealex sheath makers. They have many common knives, so don't need yours for making the sheath. Something as "unusual" as a kitchen knife might require your sending them your knife. I do...

Check on the Blade Forums general or review forums for Gary Graley. I believe he uses the handle G2. He makes excellent leather sheaths for folders, and I'm pretty sure the micro tools. He might make them for the larger tools also. (Won't do them for fixed blades) He and his work are highly regarded...

Hi khahztiss. Welcome to the forum! I'm the furthest thing from an expert when it comes to sharpening, mostly because I don't use most of my knives very heavily. There are experts who swear by oilstones, or diamond bench stones, or the electric sharpeners. I believe that the 204 exists primarily bec...

Don't forget the Dyads. A full blade of each persuasion right at your hand. No compromises needed.

Right/wrong/indifferent, tend to think small chance that something that bucks the trends of the entire -- well so you have one exception -- industry. Go for it.

Hello, MSaxatilus. Welcome to the forum! I checked some of the usual suspects, plus a couple others. Only found 1 which appears to really have the micarta Calypso Jr. Here is the URL: http://ndsproducts.com/spyderco.html They want $65 for it, which seems a bit stiff to me. I've never dealt with this...

I'd recommend either the Native or the Wegner. The Native strikes me as very versatile. The Wegner too. Each has more "personality" than many of the others. Of course, if you're really into the medium sizes, the Calypso Jr. Ltwt is truly special -- if you like to cut with a knife. Stare

Onomatopoeia has always been very difficult for me. Was going to say that the Wegner, because its a liner lock, has a more hollow sound to it than the lockbacks, then checked my Dyad and it too sounds kind of hollow. The cleanest, most crisp sound comes from the Calypso Jr., with a similar sound com...

Guess everything is relative. I'm going to have to work my way down to the small knives, I guess. Of those I now own, the Calypso Jr. is easily the most sheeple friendly one. I agree that the clean look of the flat grind and no teeth helps it a lot. I do agree that handle color is probably a real fa...

Seemed to have no effect on the other thread, but will have my say again. This AFMO outfit has their own brand name knives -- believe they're actually Fury, made in China. First one on the list is the "Harpy". This is a ripoff from Spyderco. They also sell S&W, most of whose models are...

Ahem! So, this outfit that puts its own brand name on ripoffs also sells FRN Spydies at aluminum prices. Why am I not surprised? People, and businesses, are, IMO, fairly consistent. If they'll scam you one way, they'll scam you every way they can. The only way to stop such outfits from flourishing i...

Hi Muel. Welcome! Yes, I think you should buy a Spydie.

I know I'm going to feel dumb for asking this question, but what is a pony -- knife that is. Or did you mean horse pony's? I have a terrible memory and just can't remember any knives being referred to as ponies.

Hey Knife Dude! Welcome to the forum! Just got thru reading Sal's thread on where people are from. Maybe we should think about one for ages. (Afraid I have a couple years on you.) I tend to think that your parent(s) should maybe consulted a bit on this purchase. But, assuming approval, I think it wo...

Jeff -- strongly suggest you continue on the course you outlined. If you're using TufGlide or something similar, I'd give it 4-5 consecutive days of application and several dozen rapid partial openings. I was about to give up on a non-Spyderco knife until the 5th day. Suddenly, it smoothed out beaut...

Tom -- Fist, welcome! Always great to see another "recruit." Tho I understand he may switch to the Gunting, the blade trainer at the Sig Sauer academy has always used the Endura and Delica for his training knives. If so many trainers use the knives, I believe you're on real solid ground wi...

v34 -- Poor idea in my view. Quality apparently has vastly different meanings to Emerson than it does to Sal. Mark1955 -- if you're still reading this thread, meant to say something earlier, which I forgot: I'd suggest you read "Master of the Blade" by Richard Ryan. I've only read one other book on knife fighting, and in my opinion, Ryan is far better than the other. IMHO, if a person is threateni...

Titanium is stronger than steel by weight -- not dimension. To be as strong as the current card, a titanium model would necessarily be thicker. I have serious doubts it would be a better knife if it were substantially thicker than it is.
