Re: I miss old school Delica

I like the pointy tips as well.

Have been buying old Enduras but Going to pick up one or two Old Delicas even though they are a bit small for me.

Re: Spyderco and law enforcement personnel

I must say I didn’t realise LEO’s are not well paid over in the US. Also, over here in Aus work related items are tax detectable (power your tax paid) so everything purchased for and used for work is claimed - iphone, knives, torches, boots etc etc. probably skews purchases compared to other countri...

When you scratched the blade with the sponge there had to be something trapped on the sponge that did the scratching. Think about it logically.

Re: Spyderco and law enforcement personnel

People on this forum are outliers obviously as I have more Spyderco’s than I can count. Most guys I work with carry cheap “tactical” knives with a serrated edge and glass breaker. I’ve seen a few guys with ZT’s and microtechs. Are the guys you work with LEOs/Military people ? I find those who reall...

Re: Spyderco and law enforcement personnel

“The one common denominator is serrated or combo edge ...no PE in the bunch” Doesn’t surprise me in the least. I think this is a clear separator between civilians and LEO’s/Military people. One thing I found is you seem to get clusters for various products - knives, watches, boots, webbing, holsters...

Re: Anyone else here still love the Starmate?

Not sure what I'd do with the upper sharp edge If, by “upper sharp edge”, you mean a cutting edge, as distinct from a swedge, I believe you're mistaken. But I don’t own a Starmate, much to my regret, so I can’t say for sure. When I was researching this knife, it was extolled as a self-defense knife...

Re: Mr Goddard

Totally agree re missing out on a lot of knives.

I buy 2nd hand ‘used’ because I’m a user, looking at one of the NIB, LNIB etc etc they are new. Some haven’t even been opened.

Re: Do you keep your Spyderco boxes?

If it is a user and box comes from a user in not perfect condition, probably not.

If I buy a new or NIB/LNIB I probably would even if I use the knife (which is likely).

I rarely sell stuff.

Re: Anyone else here still love the Starmate?

Looks a nice knife. Not sure what I'd do with the upper sharp edge but nice looking knife just the same. Why do you call it "It's a combat knife disguised as a slick modern Gentleman's folder." What "combat" about it ? It's the thickness and shape of the front of the blade. I co...

Re: What is this??

For $15 it might be worth it but not much more. Interestingly re Camo (and other colours), with the way people Cerakote things and water dip items (I do some gunstocks), I'm surprised their aren't more different things out there. A friend of mine Cerakote's and he's doing lots of knives in batches f...

Re: POLL: Possible new double blade folder: Would you like to see another version featuring a saw?

A serrated edge can do all that a plain edge can do but better in some things and not so refined in others.

A serrated edge will also blunt more slowly than a plain edge.

If I was in a survival situation I’d want an SE- and a separate saw lol

Re: POLL: Possible new double blade folder: Would you like to see another version featuring a saw?

I agree that if one desires “one tool to do it all” then a pliers-type multitool is the answer. Mutitools are a crowded market already. I can’t see Spyderco building a “me too” product unless they feel they can offer some clearly unique differentiation from what currently exists. The big problem wi...

Probably best to put this question in GENERAL DISCUSSION.

It is in Spyderco Counterfeits, Clones, Replicas and not as many would visit.

Re: POLL: Possible new double blade folder: Would you like to see another version featuring a saw?

A multi tool with a saw, yes. With a Diad, why carry the weight of the saw when it’s maybe a 10% use item. So yes, carry a saw or a multi tool with saw when required - out bush - but diad all the time. Re the bending sapling, it just came to me when I had to use my Endura up northern Aus when out bu...
