Re: Spyderco genzow sheath problems

For a start, just remember that things can catch/cut the stitching - I didn't think so until it happened to a sheath
I had quite a few years ago.

What can you do ?

Send it back to Spyderco Maintenance if you can't do what above poster says of stitching it up yourself.

Re: A possible old gem!?

Give him at least $50 as you know what it’s worth. Karma hurts ;) At $25 it's a steal. $50 is about all it's worth ! (Give or take $10). That's the same as mine except my blade is Aus-8. I've recently purchased a few more in Aus-8 and VG-10 but none in G2. Great knives to carry, hold and use.

Also had to Google it.

Like the micarta white handles but afraid not much else.

OP
It’s always good to include/post a photo of what you are talking about in posts, otherwise ‘some’ people just flip to the next topic.

Re: Army ROTC Knife

Weight matters. Every lb or kg has to be carried and soldiers today carry heaps. In saying that, robustness of blade so that it can handle the tasks with breaking/bending. Make sure it has a lanyard hole. I’d go serrated as it will still cut when blunted as I doubt he will be able to carry a sharpen...

Re: Blade Steel CQI

I concur :) So do I. Re wear resistance, I have only personally met 2-3 people who have "worn" knives where the knives blade really is worn down to a lot thinner than when it was made. This is across warehousing, hunting etc The hunting ones were where cutting up animals was a daily field...

Re: I need to get me one of these !

I prefer the normal blade shape over the hawk bill, only because it allows you to easily cut more things.
The hawkbill is great when having to reach to cut ropes, belts etc as the rope tend to stay while being cut.

I am going to get one as it is a good knife to carry when I need a small knife.

I think there's a reason the endura's tip is made the way it is, other than "let's just remove some steel"
I vaguely remember Sal or someone posting something about why when I first joined and was talking early Endura's.

I think it was to do with strength and tip breaking.

Re: I miss old school Delica

It'd be cool to have "retro" sprint runs, where an old model was given a sprint exactly as it originally appeared. I always kick myself for not buying the FRN clipped Delica I had in my hands in the 90’s. I’d love one in VG 10. Pick one up on ebay or bladeforums (less so Bladeforums, not ...

Re: I miss old school Delica

Good to know. Thanks

Aus-8 and others might be old school but they work and don’t rust and it’s done everything I’ve asked of it in 27 years!

I stick with what I know lol

Re length, the Endura 1 has one of the longest blades in that model. That’s why I stick with it.

Re: I miss old school Delica

You know joints of animals - like Spines, knee joints, elbows, hip joints ? Try to bend joint back and dig knife in to cut the sinews, cartlidge etc etc, twisting and turning the knife. Bones can close up as you are trying to twist and cut. I must admit I am probably aware of what I'm doing and don...

Re: Double bladed folder again: Each blade in a different steel - weird idea?!

If one blade is serrated and one plain, then yes, definitely as the same steel has been shown to have different properties in the different blades. Pick the best performance / cost ratio for each. You mean, it HAS been done by any manufacturer, or that the salty Dyad (H1 for SE, LC 200N for PE) is ...

Re: I miss old school Delica

I break tips off almost all of my pm2's and miliaries. Never happened to an Endura. You won't find me making my tip weaker. How to you do that ? What's the tjickness of blades / tips on PM2's and Militaries compared to Endura ? I abuse my knives (not just Spyderco including getting into joints of b...
