I'm a fan of the spyder edge. So long as it's kept very sharp, I can do most things with it I can do with a plain edge. It takes some practice to learn to use it that way, but I've always done very well with one. Probably my next one will be plain edge, but I don't think there's anything wrong with ...

Spyderco #2 on the way

I just won a NIB Navigator off of ebay. It'll be technically the third Spyderco I've ever had, but the other two were both delicas, so this one will be totally new to me. I don't know what GIN-1 steel is or if it's good or not but I've never known Spyderco to make crap. Since they've been discontinu...

Cost of steels

I've been trying to make sense of something for a while now. I know very little about steels and when you folks talk about them you usually are over my heads, but I didn't notice this. My SS Delica is made out of AUS6 and I paid between $40 and $50 for it from New Graham, but the SS Cricket costs $4...

Keeping your blade clean

Today I let a friend cut up an orange with my DelicaII. I cleaned it off as best I could with some water after that. Is there any chance of the citric acid leaving any staining? The water took all the lubrication out of the knife, so I put some more oil in it, but is there anything else I need to do...

I didn't know the copilot was still being made. It's not on the Spyderco website. I wouldn't mind having one if they're still around. I know the navigators don't show either, but I understand they're still in production. Being as I've had 2 Delicas, and that's all in way of Spydercos, I can't say wh...

A trend toward flightless birds?

I guess this may have been said before, but is Spyderco having a trend toward naming their knives after flightless birds? The kiwi, the dodo, what's next? A penguin? An emu? An ostrich? Just thought it was funny.

Meerkat handle material

What is the handle on a Meerkat made of? I don't understand those code number type things, so if you could tell me in plain English I'd appreciate it. I hate to knock any Spyderco product and I hope I'm wrong but it just looks a little on the flimsy, easily broken side. Also, how strong is that phan...

As of right now, I'd say my SS Delica. It's just about the right size for most things I usually do with a knife. Since it is my only Spyderco, I guess I'm not qualified to say, but I'll be getting more soon.

Military and Paramilitary

I keep hearing you all mention a "paramilitary" comming out soon. Is that supposed to be something between the size of an Endura and a Military? If so, I might could get into that. The Military looks just do dang big for any kind of normal use. I'd appreciate any enlightenment you folks ca...

I don't mean to offend or insult anybody, but I just don't understand hawkbill knives. They look cool, but is there any real purpose? They look ideal for certain specialized purpose, but I like a good general purpose knife. I'm sure you have reasons for liking them so well, and I wish you would enli...

Native SS

I've been looking at the natives lately, and I'm thinking about buying one. The original native, I'm just not crazy about that volcano grip. The Native III, I don't like the wire pocket clip. Which leaves me with the Native II SS. I have an SS Delica, and it's a little heavy for its size. How much h...
