Re: I'm in love with Ultem...
Heat proof characteristics really appealed to me being in a tropical environment. Also the pairing with Magnacut for a waterproof knife led me to choose it for my Magnacut Mule. Basically made a knife you could throw in an autoclave at 120C daily . (Working for the Department of Agriculture Fisheri...

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
Most definitely going to have to buy two or three ceramic mules--one to use, one to keep for the collection, and one to sell at an obscene mark up on ebay at some point in the future. Just have to make sure to sell it before the hypothetical product reveal in which Spyderco announces the upcoming r...

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
Not for me, watched the whole ceramic knife come in when I was still a butcher and toughness was always the issue. Aussie $$s lately and price may have me sit this one out. (Having all my mules on a magnetic rack this would sit in a draw and probably get used less) Good to see this bought to market ...

Re: Why do knife enthusiasts frequently ignore kitchen knives?
I have noticed the exact same with a few mates. They have a fillet knife and a hunting knife that you could cut a buffalo up with and will drop buy and get me to sharpen them regularly. But drop over for a feed and they have the bluntest cheapest things in the kitchen. (When I know they have a fille...

Re: CNC Machine to shape scales
Shape all my hardwood scales by hand. A good belt sander would be far more handy in my opinion. Most of my figured Hardwood scales are book matched so probably not something you would CNC Many CNC scale makers are doing G10, Micarta and other materials. As a knife maker who watches and follows a lot...

Re: S30V, S45VN or S90V. Is one of these better?
I am more than happy with S30V but have been using the S45VN Mule a bit for the last 12 months. (as it’s the first one of my several Mules on the magnetic strip in the kitchen.) So I have found it holds an edge better than S30V and sharpens just as easy, if not better. More than happy with S45VN or ...

Re: Flock of mules
Picked up some Myall a cpl months back. Seems like a darker cousin? Are they similar to work with sanding/finishing wise? Myall might be a bit harder to work with a touch more of a resin. Both a very dense timber. Gidgee probably has a better colour when quilting due to being lighter, but Myall can...

Re: Para 3 - anyone else wish the blade stock was thinner?
No, Always grab a Para 3 if I’m going to go full boar on a cutting task. If I am trimming up a drywall cut out it’s a para 3 :zany I have several Spyderco knives in several thicknesses so the choice is good. Not any Spyderco’s I really want to change as there is another knife that suits what differe...
