Sharpening using the Sharpmaker

Lately, I have been sharpening my knives a lot on the Sharpmaker, since I was frustrated about not getting the correct edge. I have largely improved my skills, and am proud to say that I can correctly sharpen all my spyderco knives. :) Having said that, I thought of putting down some ideas about sha...

I recently sharpened my Sage 2 on the sharpmaker - was slightly scared, since I did not want to ruin the Sage, and here is what helped: (a) slow, deliberate strokes on the sharpmaker are a must if you want to reduce scratches to the sides, and mess up the blade (b) hold the Sage at its natural holdi...

Trainer: Delica or Endura?

I have a live Delica 4, and an Endura trainer. The trainer is larger for my hands. Was wondering if a Delica trainer would be better suited to practise the open/close/flick and other skills or is the Endura sufficient. Is the choice based purely on the size of hands, or is there more to it? Does a l...

Haven't had this experience on a knife related event, but have used it for a car - my FIAT car had an issue, and merely mentioning membership with respected FIAT forums got me a response in 3-days. Typical response times were two weeks, or even more. Till now, I have stayed with respected knife deal...

I started EDC'ing a Sage 2 recently, and this is by far, the best knife I've owned. Did some odd jobs of cutting and chopping food (including some that was hard), and the found the ergonomics to be WOW! I had a Frankensage, but sold it to raise funds - had been eyeing a Sage 2 for a long time. :-) I...

The SRM 710 has a good fit till you take it apart, and re-assemble. None of my SRM knives are the same once I have opened them once. This is not the case with any of my Spydercos' - when put together, the are exactly the same as they were.

You get what you pay for.

Broke my ceramic fine rod...

...how stupid of me to allow one fine rod (white) to slip out of the casing. It fell from about 3 feet, and broke into two. Fortunately, it broke 60-40, still allowing me to sharpen the Delica.

And cpf8 gives you an 8% discount on $20 orders, and cpf5 gets you 5% on all orders. They have insurance for a mere $5, so opting for free shipping + insurance is the best way if you are outside the US.

4sevens is a well-known, and well-loved brand.

Sage 2 is the most "open design" folder of the three. I prefer it more for pocket carry, since it is easy to clean the lint that invariably gets in there, so maintenance is less. Sage 1 has beautiful CF scales. I personally did not like the scale colors on the 3. Utility wise, I'd say all ...

PRC is supposedly trying to improve their image as a trading partner both in Asia and around the world. While they were just named the 2nd biggest economy, they are also the biggest joke and they know it. It wouldn't hurt to send a complaint to Commerce and State just to get on record. You never kn...

Native might look ugly and clunky, and un-chic, but it has the best ergonomics of all the blades I've handled till date. The Native III is every better with a "full-belly". Welcome to the forum, and enjoy the Spyderco blades. Cheers mate!

I'm an Amazon Prime user so I love to purchase from Amazon when I can. Just pay attention to whether it's in stock from Amazon or if a Marketplace user is selling it. Either way you're protected through Amazon, but there's no need to go through troubles if you don't have to. Not saying all the mark...

knife911 - All fakes!

Did not find a thread here mentioning knife911 . This site has all fake knives, being sold under reputed brand names. For eg. here is the Spyderco page. A knife enthusiast will be able to spot these fakes, especially the Spydies (yuck, they look ugly!), but it is very easy to fall prey. No address i...

I consider this a plain "abuse" of the knife, there is nothing more to say. It is more knife destruction test, than hard use test, IMHO. Secondly, the sample size 1 is statistically insignificant to derive any conclusions.
