Good thinking ! Thanks for the pointer - I won't look any further.

Can a Manix silver pocket clip fit on an Endura ?

I'm just wondering as I prefer a shiny clip with no paint that wears off over time.

Cheers

No, I'm not serious, and I was just joking around chipdouglas... no need to apologize. I certainly didn't expect anybody to read through all 450 posts. This was just a painful thread to read through for multiple reasons when it was active and I was dismayed to see it pop back up. LOL, Ok I see - th...

Someone obviously didn't read post #424 asking to never have this thread brought back again. Sorry, that thread was too long for me to read through it all - I read a few pages and then got tired. I didn't mean any harm by bringing it back up though - really. I was under the impression something was...

Would anyone tell me whether the lock issue on the Manix 2 has been addressed by Spyderco ? That is, are currently made Manix equipped with a stronger lock ?

Thanks

This is getting to be my overall opinion of most kit sharpening systems. As much as I completely depend on my 2 Sharpmakers to keep my cutting arsenal razor sharp I have found that even they are not complete. So I do understand why the brother started this thread to begin with. My only serious comp...

I used the DMT aligner set for a couple of years and got very very sharp edges with it. DMT diamond stones are GREAT if you like diamonds. I don't have a Sharpmaker, never even seen one. Now I use an Edge Pro. I truely believe your best investment would be to continue to use the Sharpmaker and save...

DMT or Lansky to complement Sharpmaker - I'm on the fence.

Hi, I'm looking at adding some more sharpening kit to my Spyderco Sharpmaker. I've looked around on these forums and others and I've noticed that DMT and Lansky come up quite a bit. There's also the wicked Edge sharpener, but that's beyond my budget. So far as I can see, DMT comes up on top and pric...

You're welcome! and I'm happy to be of any help. :D Come to think of it, what sand paper grit would you use on the Spyderco rods in order to remove metal faster, yet then being able to go directly back to the brown rods, once I get the bevel right ? I'm still sticking with option #2, but I'd been t...

There are two approaches to this. The first is that since you probably have a bevel angle greater than 30 degrees, you will need to take off a lot of metal to get to 30 degrees. You can either just spend a lot of time or you can use low grit wet/dry wrapped on your stones to hurry up the metal remo...

Remember to color the edge bevel with a Sharpie marker to be certain that you are sharpening all the way to the edge. Your goal, as I understand it, is to keep the knife straight up and down to get the desired angles. It will take a significant amount of time and strokes to rebevel an obtuse angle ...

Congratulations! It's always nice to hear a success story. Just FYI though, if you're tilting the spine of the knife away from the rods, you are sharpening at a higher angle than the setting. I like that you're bringing this up, but if I don't tilt the spine the rod don't seem to want to bite into ...

It's starting to shave some hair off the back of my hand - I'm using the 30 degree angle - I've noticed that I need to tilt my knife some in order for the rods to bite into the metal.

Oh I see, sorry :)

It must take quite a few passes though - do you use moderate pressure ?

A 30 degree bevel angle would indeed make a noticeable increase in cutting performance over a 40 degree angle but a hair popping edge, indeed hair whittling edge, on the 40 degrees is quite the norm. Um, ok so I was wrong and that's likely why I couldn't get that hair whittling edge - thanks for th...
