Re: Intro to tool steel?

If someone were to get their toes wet with a tool steel, which one would you recommend (on the easier to get side, so no crucarta shamen :D )? Maybe it's just the way my mind works, and how my life is. :) But I have to scratch my head, when reading you ask about "get their toes wet". Do y...

Re: Does dust cause rust??

The Deacon is of course correct, as usual. I'll expand on his answer a bit. Think of dust, as tiny little sponge particles. Dry, becasue they floated/made their way there into/onto your knife liners (Dry cotton bluejeans lint). :D They then easily soak-up moisture from the surrounding air (think ste...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Cutting heavy plastic banding, and the thin plastic outer-wrap. On a skid of thick plastic sheets (PVC) that just arrived (1" x 4' x 8' - 36 sheets). This stack of sheet-stock goes up on some racking, before we cut the bundle open. I do this becasue the sheets are so slick, they can easily slid...

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

I have a set of his "Skinny Cut" Shaman scales, sorry about the pic, it's not the best angle, but this is what they look like.... I wasn't sure when I ordered them, but I figured with the rep he has, he probably knows what he's doing.... sure 'nuf, took me about 3 minutes after istalling ...

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

I just had to . . . . A different approach: https://i.imgur.com/PFqjouB.jpg Aftermarket black micarta scales from RC Bladeworks. They're close but not quite as perfect as the Spyderco micarta scales. In particular the contouring on the edges of the scales is flat and not rounded like the Cruwear mi...

Re: Food Grade Mineral Oil

Yes, as others have now said. Food grade mineral oil's most common form, is as a laxative. :) Be sure to check the label though first. I have to imagine, that somewhere, some company is making and selling it, while also adding something else to it. Which is not normal. The liquid, should be crystal ...

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

Regarding the smudging or fingerprints on the blade, you guys do know that Spyderco employs actual human beings with fingers and those fingers do indeed occasionally actually touch the knives they’re making... ;) :D Yes Mr. RadioactiveSmartyPants. We do know of these humans, that you speak of. :D B...

My Rex45 PM2 definitely had the packet. None of my Spyderco "carbon" knives have been missing them till now, even Cruwear has had them in the past.

Watch out, 'Phreak's running a mill!!!

What in the world is the Phreak doing with the Mill? Removing jimping, or . . . . ? :D

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

Mine did not either, and I had briefly wondered if possibly it was a returned pre-order example. There were no prints on the knife to speak of, and I couldn't find a thing wrong with it, so I don't really care one way or the other. But no, mine did not have a desiccant pack either.] Thank you Spyde...

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

I have a question, to those of you others, who have also just received this knife. Did yours come with a Silica gel desiccant pack? Mine did not, and I find this odd. For a couple of reasons. 1) The Cruwear variation came with a large Silica gel desiccant pack, and it has twice the chromium content....

Re: Interest in Manix 2 with CPM REX45

Anybody knows when the Manix in REX 45 will be available? Middle or end of the year? Welcome to the Forum Moldawe! :) It is in the latest Reveal, so it should be within the next 90 days (target), and could be as long as 120 days. Should the unexpected happen, it could be longer. :spyder: Sales page...

Mine arrived yesterday. Really digging it. Guys, can someone of you measure thickness of the scales on Shaman?

The answer is 0.183" Pancake. I did a scale swap today, and was able to get a good measurement on it.

I thought that custom engraved knives were non - returnable??

My guess is, that it was engraved incorrectly, by a BHQ Staffer, and never left the building. :D
