Re: Your toughest Spyderco

Share and discuss :) Roland. I have only two and I'd guess both are very though, can't decide! 1. Native 5 CPM Cruwear: For the same reasons you mentioned. Btw. fantastic scale swap there... I hope Flytanium or someone other will offer AM titanium scales for it. 2. Pac Salt SE: H1 is very unlikely ...

Re: Back lock action

My N5 is somewhat tighter and I can't flick it open with fingers other than my thumb unless using more force than I'd like. It does not drop shut at all either. IMO the mechanism works exactly the way I want. If possible I would want to avoid knives that drop shut easily for the sake of security, es...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Congrats, my Austrian fellow-countryman! :) First Spyder? I think it's a safe bet that some more will follow... ;) I had a Native once, and especially liked the greatly executed backlock. Thanks! I am looking at the salt series, not sure if I will have the patience for the 2020 Pac Salt but I love ...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Any tips where to hunt for good deals in Europe or in Russia?

I have bookmarked some US sellers that ship here which I found on the forum. Ordered from Knifecenter and shipping to Austria was only ~ 15USD!

So far I discovered Knivesandtools.xx and lamnia.xx

Tks!

Re: Slipjoint mod Para 3

If I was living just a few miles more to the north and by that in Germany (with its crazy knife-laws) and not in Austria (great knife laws), and if a similar mod was available for backlocks, I´d absolutely want it. As a matter of fact, If I was living in Germany and just had the choice to carry a &...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

CPM Cruwear - great balance of properties
M390 - great wear resistance, rust resistance and reasonably tough
L200N - great balance with rust resistance as the top priority

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.

I think 3v would be nice in a pm2. It would give the fine tip more flexibility when doing precision work in harder objects like wood for example.
4VE would be great as well.

Re: Just ordered some Nano Oil *cough snake oil cough*

I use Vaseline on my carbon blades and I don't worry too much about food prep. The guy who invented (more like discovered) Vaseline believed in it so much he ate a spoonful a day and he lived into his 90s. I'll use the Nano Oil that I have on knives that can't be taken apart, just since I paid so d...

Re: Just ordered some Nano Oil *cough snake oil cough*

I tried many things. I used baby oil for quite some time, then Ballistol, mineral oils, silicon grease and now grease made by Liqui Moly "Schmierfix". I use my folder to prepare food / eat that's why I came to prefer grease over oil since its less likely to come in contact with food. Not ...

Any news on the sun and moon Chaparral? Sal maybe? It looks perfectly designed already in the vid (link here once more) https://youtu.be/ScWvTKqxe4c&feature=youtu.be ). Was hoping to see it in the (otherwise very exciting!) new reveal... I am a big fan of the scale design. The dot goes really w...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Semi custom Cheburkov Big Swift. The clip is just "pushed in", I bought it for the fancy timascus and taking pictures with it since I don't enjoy clips on knives :D Its my only EDC folder since I started this madness over a year ago (apart from a 15 y.o. SAK Huntsman (abuse) and Swisstool ...
