Re: Spyderco Caribbean: Will it change everything?

My experience with LC200N is that it delivers near S30V edge holding retention, nearly as easy to sharpen as VG10, as corrosion resistant as H1 and nearly as tough as H1. There is a LOT to like!

Re: Spyderco Caribbean: Will it change everything?

Yes and no. I think that lc200n will change a lot people's opinions about what a steel should be and I like the Caribbean design. I think the Caribbean is too large for a comfortable EDC and it's grooved G10 scales may be too aggressive (for EDC). Regardless, I'm looking fwd to getting my hands on a...

Re: Para 3 with s30v or s110v

The edge I am describing is a rougher toothier edge than the high polished edges I put on S30V or even ZDP189. It will slice phonebook paper and shaves hair easily. I have put a high polished edges on my S110V blades that are also very sharp. The high polished edges don't seem to last, the rougher t...

Re: Para 3 with s30v or s110v

I do really notice the difference in edge retention between S30V and S110V. When properly sharpened S110v edge lasts significantly longer and requires little effort to resharpen. Use fine or superfine diamond stone to raise a burr, rough polish w/ 600 or even 400 grit. Fast, easy, sharp, durable, co...

That's what I'm waiting for....

Re: Delica or Salt LC200N sprintrun?

I would not like to see H1 disappear. It is a proven steel and is a great outdoor material. Perhaps we may see some outdoor related knives in this steel besides the Aqua Salt? LC200N is unproven, as of yet, and in plain edge I am not certain the edge holding is that much better than H1, from what I...

Re: PM2 in ZDP-189

Interesting discussion. My father, son and I all have ZDP189 Endura4's. My father and I both have S110v Native 5's. My buddy has a S110v Manix2 and I have a s110v PM2. I sharpen all of these knives. My initial experience w/ s110v was that it was aggravating to sharpen - very time consuming and the e...

Re: I no longer have a ZDP 189 Manbug

Depends on where you are...

My son carries a ZDP 189 Endura 4 every day at Lamar University (Texas) and no one gives him a second glance. Several of his buddies carry knives also, no issues.

Re: MT25P - Mule Team Fixed Blade with LC200N

I have broken down several large cardboard boxes, shredding them into little 1-2" strips. Cut a couple of dozen large zip ties and trimmed a dozen or so small magnolia tree limbs (up to about 1" in diameter). Edge sharpness seems to be virtually unaffected. Slow cuts through paper I can fe...

Re: MT25P - Mule Team Fixed Blade with LC200N

I received my new MT25P LC200N last night. The factory edge was shaving sharp, good but not great. I reprofiled this morning - 15deg on my edge pro (seemed to match factory bevel pretty close), then 18deg microbevel. Steel was very easy to sharpen and the edge is stupifyingly sharp! It reminds me of...

My ZDP 189 Endura seems to keep finding its way back into my pocket regardless of whatever else I buy.

Re: Microbevel/sharpening help

You have to remove a significant amount of metal to get the edge to apex when going to a narrower angle. IMO, achieving an apex is a waste of time and a waste of significant blade steel when you are planning to add a micro bevel again. It sounds as if you have already achieved your desired results -...
