Surface Rust on DLC Blade

An interesting phenomenon occurred last weekend. While out on a ride I had the DLC M4 Para 3 clipped in my shorts pocket. During the ride I was caught out in a light, steady rain. Not a heavy rain, but enough for me to get nice and soaked. After the ride I noticed some surface rust on the DLC, but o...

Re: The Brouwer's Clip - More than meets the eye, perfectly meets the hand

I'd say that on just about every spydie I own or have owned the grip and ergos have been vastly improved by swapping out to a Lynch deep carry clip. So much so that I'll usually go ahead and order the replacement clip when I order the knife.

Re: Where is the REX 45 Millie?

Agree with all of the above...besides the Para 3. I’m one of the weird people with big hands that just can’t do the Para 3 thing. I may be one of the oddballs with large hands who actually prefers the Para 3 ergos over the PM2. I find the squared off edges of the PM2 are uncomfortable and the point...

Where is the REX 45 Millie?

The REX45 PM2 and Para 3 have come and gone weeks ago and still no sign of the Military. Any word on an ETA? I have the Para 3 version and love it but the Military is the one that most piques my interest in this steel (although a REX45 Shaman would be a great combo, I'm not holding my breath for tha...

Re: I don't like the way this forum discusses corrosion resistance

It is true that some people naturally have more salty sweat. https://oem.bmj.com/content/oemed/14/3/191.full.pdf https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/84491 I find it interesting that the presence of copper inhibits corrosion to some degree. This is me in solid black jersey after several hours on the...

Re: I don't like the way this forum discusses corrosion resistance

I suppose I have a body chemistry that makes metals corrode. My "rust proof" SpydieChef was quite a mess after 3 months of riding in my jersey pocket on some long, sweaty bike rides in central Arkansas. When you see the pics below perhaps you will understand why I'm a bit reluctant to carr...

Lil' Native Slipjoint?

Anyone know if there are plans for a Lil' Native Slipjoint? I finally got to handle one and love it as a small, office friendly EDC. I would love to see a slipjoint version as it sometimes feels clunky for large hands to operate lock mechanism on such a small knife. I would also be OK with a lil' Na...

Re: Rhino Reports

Here’s a short vid of my one hand close method for the Rhino. https://youtu.be/2ToI5LgN6Zc The closing action is a little stiff so the blade doesn’t free fall closed. It takes some mild finger gymnastics for me to close one handed but I’m getting the hang of it and it’s starting to feel more natural...

Re: Shaman Sprints?

I'm sure there are potential sprint possibilities watching the forum. CPM-Cruwear with what handle material? sal The light or dark grey g10 used in the past would be great in my opinion. The contoured g10 in those colours would be really interesting. +1 on the gray G10 for a Cruwear Shaman sprint. ...

Try power stropping with a Dremel...
Have you done a youtube video of this power stropping technique? I'd love to see a video tutorial if you have the time or inclination to make one.

Re: PPT CF Sprint - liner material?

Ti liners wouldn't make much of a weight difference on the PPT unless you also changed that chunky steel backspacer as well. I'd think the best bet for weight reduction would be changing the backspacer to CF or using standoffs. The PPT would have been one of my favorites if it wasn't so dang heavy. ...

Re: Manix 2 51200

I for one am happy to see these non-stainless steels getting the DLC treatment. Some folks get patina when they let nature take it's course, I get rust. I carried an M4 Mantra for a few weeks as an office EDC in air-conditioned environments and that blade straight up rusted in my pocket. Same with m...

Down to one Military, the CF/Ti S90V KW exclusive, and it's a mighty fine specimen. One of my favorite spydies and with the S90V it's kinda like my folding Southfork. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4642/39384777872_dc0b0b607a_z.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4734/24548739937_fef703b8e8_z.jpg
