Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

Police is already the perfect size  It fits my hand better than pretty much any knife out there, but a smaller, more compact blade would be nice to have in addition to the P4. I've noticed even friends and family being intimidated by the size of the Police, and some get quite nervous. If I'm ...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

Hi Albatross, It's a new design any way we go. As mushroom said, scaling down a model, in my opinion. really doesn't work. We've done it a few times when we let the maker create the smaller design. The knife may be smaller, but the hand doesn't get any smaller. sal Thanks for your reply Sal. I'm no...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

Sounds a lot like a back lock Para 2 to me. The Straight Spine Stretch is pretty close to a backlock PM2 LW. If they threw a SSS blade into the G10 Stretch body that would be pretty darn close. Yes, a SSS with full liners and G10 would be the closest to what I'm after. If it's as thin as the P4 han...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

This might have been covered in the past, but do you not consider the Endura and Delica to be the smaller "versions" of the police? I don't, because the handles of the Endura/Delica and Police feel worlds apart (to me) and the Endura/Delica don't have a choil. The Endura blade shape is go...

Re: Another "mini" Police thread?

I will always be adamantly against simply just scaling knives up or down to get a new model. I think it's lazy and deceptive design, but thats just me. The Rookie is pretty much a 3 inch version of the Police. I think a Rookie sprint run in K390/G10 would be very popular. I generally agree with wha...

Another "mini" Police thread?

I know there have been requests for a scaled-down Police, but with the P4 G10 going away, what are the odds of a flash batch(or better yet, standard offering) Police, that's smaller, with full liners and G10 ? A smaller Police with a 3 5" blade, K390 or S90V (and carbon fiber scales to keep wit...

Re: Manix 2 Lock Stick

Mine has the same clicking, but was never taken apart. From the user reports I've read, it seems like a slight flaw, that has been present in lots of newer Manix releases, from the last year or so. I tried putting pressure on the blade and then tightening the body screws, which did help, but didn't ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

I couldn't finish "Rextober", because the P4 has been incessantly begging to be carried lately. Please excuse the "happy hour" accident, near the heel of the blade. I'm not going to remove any more steel, unnecessarily, so hopefully it's only a few more sharpenings until the beve...

Re: Knife and Car

Google the 400z that was recently shown as a concept.... Japanese muscle It sure is pretty, but similar to JD Spydo's love of the "golden age" of Spyderco, I'm enamored with what I consider the "golden age(s)" of Japanese sports cars, the 60's-70's and 90's. The 80's weren't kin...

Re: What is your favorite scale color between Burnt Orange or Blurple?

I voted burnt orange. Truthfully, it's one of my favorite scale colors, but I don’t have any knives with burnt orange scales anymore. As they age and get stains and such, I think they show more personality than some of other colors Spyderco offers. Blurple is interesting, but the way it changes from...

Re: Knife and Car

I had a 240sx with an sr20 turbo swap. I regret letting it go. If I'm doing that over again I'm stepping up to a z32 as well; Twin Turbo. Or now that the r32 is legal to import an RB is calling future me, saying let's go for a ride...... As for the knife I'd have to look into restricted models........

Re: Is H1 work hardening a myth?

Larrin has an article about H1, and covers the work hardening topic. I shared it in another H1 thread, but I'll add it here as well, in case there are new eyes on this thread.

Knife and Car

Spyderco was (and is) intended to be a high performance knife company. It's name was derived (in part) from sports car terminology, so this got me thinking... If you could have only one "high performance" Spyderco knife and one "high performance" vehicle, which knife and vehicle ...

Re: Legit vendor?

With sites I've never ordered from, I usually do a Google search for "(name of website) reviews" and look at what people are saying about them. It's saved me from ordering from some shady businesses in the past.

Re: A couple Police4 G10 / LW Questions...

I have a question about my Police 4 Lightweight... The lock bar seems to be standing slightly above the FRN in the open and closed position. The blade is also not flush with the lock bar when open. I couldn’t get a good picture it’s a very small amount, about half a millimeter or so. Lockup is soli...

Accent on the second syllable for me. Accent on the third syllable feels less natural and more clumsy to me.

My P4 handled most of the work, but the Rex 45 Para 3 was great for cleaning things up a bit at the end.

Re: October and Rex45 aka RexTober!

5 more days to Halloween and no 2020 pumpkin shots? :p I’ve been thinking the same thing. My wife and I took our daughter to a local farm last night, to pick out a pumpkin. We (I) will probably be cutting into it tonight. My P4 will probably do most of the work, but I'll let one of my Rex knives ge...

Re: D2/K110 pros/cons in 2020?

I could see potential for the budget line or the Byrd line, but beyond that, as others have said, it's outperformed by several steels, in all regards (except cost maybe). If Spyderco developed a top quality HT for CPM D2, to maximize performance, it would catch my interest, but not my money. I would...
