White cloud, you should be ashamed of yourself. This thread made me order a yellow serrated Tasman :D

This is going to be my first hawkbill, and my first Spyderedged knife too. I'm excited!

There are a few officers who carry the Civilian, though not as many as you might expect. I am a former police officer, former police instructor, current federal law enforcement officer (supervisory special agent) and a certified instructor for my agency as well as being a former SWAT operator. The ...

So I got another PE black Para off eBay last night, plus a yellow SE Tasman that was just begging to be bought.

I feel better already... it's almost like my life has new meaning! :D

I've heard soaking the rusted parts in Coke (the drink) removes rust pretty effectively.

What luck! I just saw some black PE paras for cheap on eBay two days ago. I'm grabbing the first one that comes up for sure. What makes it worse is that I got one that was perfect. Blade was centered, lock up was tight with no play. Now I'm worried I won't get one as nice as the one I had. I'll be l...

Biggest Mistake Ever!

I sold my black Para PE. Biggest mistake ever! I started missing it as soon as I dropped it off at the post office :( I tried to make up for it by buying a new one right away, but the eBay sellers with the best prices are all out of stock.

Anyone else ever done something stupid like that?

The Salt models and Military/Paramilitary should stay, IMHO. Better still, update the Military with a compression lock!

Try using a firearm lubricant like Breakfree CLP or Miltech. Both work really well!

G10 can crack and wear, S30V can chip at the edge, D2 can be hard to sharpen, ball and compression locks tend to be more expensive.

But FRN, VG10, and a mid-back lock are affordable and they last forever. Love live the Endura and Delica! :D

I've also noticed the spacer between the stop pin and the lanyard spacer seems to be made of a different material that rusts a lot easier than the stop pin. Why didn't Spyderco use the same material as the stop pin?

Spyderco has increased the tension of the lockbar spring, which is probably why you need more force to open the blade now. Try pressing down the lockbar so it isn't pressing on the blade tang, and see if the blade swings free. If it doesn't, loosen the pivot screw. If it does, then it's as good as i...

LowTEC, under what circumstances did your para liners rust? I was always under the impression that the steel used for liners was more "stainless" than most cutlery steels.

Once you set the pivot tension to your liking and seal the thread with loctite, you won't have to bother with it again until sufficient open/close cycles have worn down the blade tang and washers to induce blade play. Blue loctite is easily broken by hand tension, so it's not permanent. Stay away fr...

Para Corrosion Resistance?

I frequently wash my black blade PE Para with warm water and dish soap after use, and I'm worried that water or soap residue trapped under the liners will cause the liners to rust.

Am I being paranoid?
