Re: Vintage Military

IIRC the early models are .156 inch and the current ones are .145
Slight difference but noticeable.

Re: Vintage Military

This one finally arrived today. Fully serrated ATS34 model circa 98. BNIB👍
Nicely centred, perfect lock up ( didn’t even need to adjust the eccentric pivot pin) and razor sharp.
This one is like a chainsaw.

Re: We are saved! Baseball Season is here!

A loooong time Yankees fan. I’ve been playing baseball my whole life. Currently player-coach in our 3rds and also coach the under 17s. Finally got to go to the USA last May and saw Judgey hit a HR and take a great catch at Yankee Stadium against that team from Boston. Fantasy experience. Saw 5 games...

Re: Spyderco's ATS-55 Era: A Really Noteworthy Time In Spyderco History

Great thread. I’m fond of this era too. The late 90’s saw a huge jump in quality and materials used. I had a Police model in ATS55. Not a bad steel but it never overly impressed me. I found it a little soft. It did however start the quest for better steels. When 440V appeared in the Military models ...

Gotta love the MLB app. I’d be lost without it down here in Oz.

Off to a good start despite an horrendous run of injuries.

Re: Blackie Collins: What a great knife-designer, maker, and person.

Blackie was true pioneer. I have several of his designs by Gerber and Meyerco.
It was always interesting to see what new mechanism or material he had come up with.

Re: Vintage Military

Hi Pete, Welcome to our forum. Nice pieces you have there. I designed that model in the '90's. sal Hi Sal, thanks for dropping in, we have corresponded before. I used to write the odd article for Knives Australia magazine which is now sadly defunct. You must be especially proud of the Military mode...

Re: Vintage Military

My 2 screw landed this morning. A couple of hours of cleaning and getting the corrosion off and she came out very good. I completely disassembled the knife. I had to use naval jelly to get some rust off. I think the knife was just neglected as it appears to have the factory edge and it is razor sha...

Re: Vintage Military

I am always on the look out for old Military's. This is one model that has really stood the test of time. I have been on the look out for a 2 screw clip model for literally years and always seem to miss them. I am always a day late and a dollar short. Until this week, when I found a used one for pr...

Re: Vintage Military

Nice examples guys. Thanks for sharing 👍 Just managed to score a very early one NIB with the two screw clip and the heavy duty jimping on the choil. One day I hope to score an all black version. I’m pretty sure these early ones were hand ground too, each blade grind is always a tad different - not p...

Vintage Military

Hi guys, I’m a fan of the golden era of tactical knives. Mid to late 90s.
One of the best is the C36 and it’s held up well over the past 20+years.
Hoping to add to the stable with a 97 model with the two screw clip soon...

Anyone else got a soft spot for the early Militarys?
