Re: Lightweight EDC fixed blade idea
I can see this knife being redundant to those who already own Mules. I thought I read the Mules were being discoed? This would be a way to keep the pattern alive. In 2 years when the only Mules you can get are on Ebay for $300, it would be nice to have a regular production option. Competition doesn...

Re: EDC fixed blade idea
The average price for the Mules, without scales or sheath, has been around $70 to $75 and that's been on direct sales, so is probably closer to wholesale than MAP. Bolatron sheath is $30. FRN scales would require expensive tooling and would probably cost at least $25. IMHO, the Bow River is a much ...

Re: Lil Native slipjoint as folding mule?
I don't think a small slip joint is a good platform for testing steels. Some people would buy it out of curiosity, but how much could we learn? They couldn't be pushed to the limits like a fixed blade. The fixed blades aren’t selling though. Because they are blanks. Most of us aren't artisans, and to...

Re: Let's bring the Mule back
You got a great one for your first Mule (imo). Of the 20 or so I've tried the K390 is one of the keepers for me. If you mean a similarly sized knife in the regular line up I don't think it would do well. The fact that Mules were made in fairly limited batches and are still some available tells a co...

Re: Let's bring the Mule back
What if it was called the "Moderation"? Kind of like Temperance, but a little different? If it was 8cr13mov, it would have to compete with the Bow River, so it needs to either be substantially different in ergonomics/design/purpose or be lower in price point (which would be difficult to a...

Re: Let's bring the Mule back
I think if you wanted to make it inexpensive, you'd pretty much be running them in China out of 8cr13mov. Not sure how the sales and profit margin would line up on that, but it's definitely a different project from the original Mule Team idea. Of course. And it won't have to be called Mule.Let's say...

Re: Let's bring the Mule back
I love my mules and my 4v is probably my most used knife. But I think spyderco is ahead of you. The bow river is similar and due any time now. Other similar knives would be the enuff series or the Moran. All mostly affordable but the bow river is downright cheap. I will also throw the waterway out ...

Let's bring the Mule back
I just got my first Mule.I wanted one for years, and only now the stars aligned.I'm not a steel expert, neither a steel snob,so i want ot talk only bout the size, weight, feel in hand, blade shape and edge geometry. To put it shortly, all are as near perfection as you can get in a medium fixed blade knife....
