Re: Reprofiling with the Sharpmaker
While I used the CBN rods, I think my observation should apply to diamond rods as well. Essentially, I recall reading somewhere to spray the rod with a fine mist of water to prevent excessive wear and particle loss. In Wayne Goddard's book, he advocates using a mixture of Simple Green and water in ...

I'm OK with G10, but I'm pretty much over carbon fiber. I'd rather see more micarta, polished, rough, whatever.

Re: Anyone else surprised RFP carry is so common?
I switched to LFP years ago, then to a Skinth pouch in the LFP, and finally to a Raven Concealment pocket shield. There are several reasons I switched to weak side carry, not the least of which is to avoid damage to steering wheels in cars.

Re: One spydie...just ONE.
The blade on the GB2 is M4 which is non-stainless so more care must be taken to clean and lube the blade. I use Balistol, but vasoline or mineral oil can be used as well if you want a non toxic lube/protectant. I never found the scales to be rough or harsh in anyway. Certainly less aggressive vs. th...

Re: One spydie...just ONE.
Gayle Bradley 2 folder is a fantastic choice, slightly higher end finishing than PM2s, Delicas, and our other favorites IMHO in this price range. Not that I want to see price increases, but I cannot believe the Bradley 2 folder is still selling for such a low street price. It's a high performance k...

Re: One spydie...just ONE.
As a word association test my answer would be Native Maxamet. With more time to think, I might say Native S110v or Chaparral.
Full disclosure, I failed the "just one test" many many knives ago.

Now you have me thinking about a special PM3 if they start to offer brass scales for the PM3!Bloke wrote:I'm pretty exited about a PM2 Maxamet and thinking about the brass scales they sell at KC.
I reckon a natural patina and brass scales will make for a spiffy knife!

It's so good I bought a second one which is rare for me. The rust mentioned above makes me think I should spray them down with Ballistol like I do with my M4 blades.

Basically what MacLaren said. ^
Add me to the Ballistol users list. Great stuff, except for the smell.
Checkout FinishLine Extreme Fluoro grease as well. It did wonders on a Manix lightweight that was "draggy" when opening.

I would rather it be added as a stock color rather than a limited production model. Maybe a white model so we can dye it to whatever we want?

Re: Spyderco bad quality in recent years Also WR dept changed
They have nothing to do with spyderco knives at all. The mod staff is cool with it despite the forum rules. As long as critical customers are drowned in it then it's ok. I'm sure a really positive and gushing thread crapped on by a bunch of animal pictures wouldn't be acceptable though. Groupthink ...

Re: Custom sheath for Friction Folder
Fantastic sheath for a very much overlooked folder. I just got a Friction Folder, despite my attempts at moderation, the deal was too good to pass on. It's a shame the original sheath and handle decoration were a bridge too far for the production model.

Very awesome! Congrats! I'm not sure I need this one though... Yes nice looking, very cool and unique. But I can't justify 155 bucks for something that small. I was out when I saw the MAP pricing and lately I've been irritated by artificial product shortages like flash runs, sprints, etc. It's stil...

Re: Bad Customer Service
Having been in some form of customer support for more years than many of you have been alive, I can say that politeness goes a very long way with support providers. It is not an easy job only dealing with the negatives and I always try to cut the person on the other end a little slack. That said, yo...
