Re: Clearly I have a problem - like the rest of you

If you buy the Sharpmaker, you can sharpen your wife's kitchen knives too. That makes it a "family purchase". SM is great. I did not want to buy one but I ended up with a store credit and the $'s lined up right. I really like mine. I have the SharpMaker. :) I went back and re-read my post...

Clearly I have a problem - like the rest of you

I'm really digging the new HAP40 DF2 I've added to my collection, (along side a Tenacious and Crow2). I think getting the SharpMaker and seeing how much sharper the Tenacious became after a few minutes spent on the SM, has really set the hook. I'm terrible at doing things half-assed, so naturally, I...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

I just picked up the parcel from the mail locker! Opened it and found my SharpMaker and HAP40 DF2. WOW! This this is pretty **** cool. I was first amazed at how light it actually is compared to the Byrd Crow 2 I've been EDC'ing. Then, came the inspection. The laminate line on the presentation side i...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

Excellent choice! You will be glad you took Surfingringo's advice. The fact that the HAP40 sprint version was still available was very lucky timing. You picked up a great new addition to your collection. Welcome to the addiction! I have both of those things, and I seriously doubt you'll be disappoi...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

Good move going with the sprint run HAP40 version. It adds to its cool factor being limited, but it will also perform well for you. There are a lot of cool knives...one thing to consider is to find good deals on used knives you like, sell them off if they don't do anything for you and you won't be ...

Re: FRN Orange vs Burnt Orange

Thanks.

I think I prefer the Burnt Orange myself, but will have to wait to see them both in person as it is still hard to really appreciate the colour from the photos.

FRN Orange vs Burnt Orange

Just wondering how different these two FRN colours actually are. Might anyone that owns both be willing to post a comparison photo?

Thanks!

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

Where did you find the DF2 sprint available?? I am in B.C. Canada, so have been buying from one of the authorized dealers in B.C. http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/Spyderco_Knives/Spyderco_C28FPBORE_Dragonfly_Burnt_Orange_HAP40 $105CAD works out to be about $82USD with Googles advertised current cu...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

I think if it's for an everyday edc, I'd go with frn. I don't think you could go wrong with a Dragonfly, but your thread made me ask what I would pick for a small Spydie edc, at least smaller than my Chaparral. I was surprised by how close the Urban is in size is to the D-fly: http://i.imgur.com/YG...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

This may sound like a broken record but: I suggest you get yourself a Spyderco Pacific Salt, or Atlantic Salt. The H-1 Stainless Steel is miraculously rust and corrosion resistant/proof, and the overall design is masterfully wondrous for an everyday carry knife. Yes, VG10 and other steels are great...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

Not really...its pretty much nothing but steel nerd goodness. Great edge retention, easy to sharpen, takes an amazing edge. Its not stainless, but just be aware of what it is and you won't have an issue. I don't think I've ever oiled my Stretch and its doing just fine. The steel will discolor some ...

Oh, I've looked at them all, the manbug and chicago were entertained. But the DF2 has got a hold on me.

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

Yes, when I was reading your op, i was thinking that one thing you should be looking for in your next knife is a steel upgrade. Vg10 will be an upgrade over the 8cr steels you're using now but hap40 would be a BIG upgrade in performance. If you are new to sharpening, you don't want to get carried a...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

That is sound advice. The Dragonfly is a great choice. I will add that for an innocuous office friendly edc that the Chaparral is tough to beat. It is a little more costly but I love mine. I have the carbon fiber version. Ya, I was looking at the Chaparral earlier today, but think the DF2 is still ...

Re: ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

The Dragonfly is an awesome design. I have both and I would get the frn. G10 is a nice material but I just really like the bi-directional frn that they put on the skeki models...even better than g10. Lighter weight and choice of color are just added bonuses. I heard a few days ago that one of the d...

ready for 3rd Knife... guide me, plz :)

Hi folks, First off, I'm a new EDC'er. Some of you may have read my posts recently, but found Spyderco after having my glove box knife stolen. Needed a replacement and that process led me to discover Spyderco and I bought a Tenacious and then a Byrd Crow 2 a week later. I'm going to buy a SharpMaker...

Re: Crow & Raven 2 Full Review

After a whole whopping 5 days with my first knife, a Tenacious, I hummed and hawed over what to get now that the knife collecting bug bit me, and I ordered a Byrd Crow 2. Loving it so far! It arrived super sharp, and while I didn't do a sharpness test with the Tenacious straight out of the box and u...
