For those on the fence about a Delica purchase...

Just got mine today. I'll admit that it was never a model that I thought I'd end up with based on my initial impression of it upon first site. The FRN handle didn't appeal, nor the blade shape. BUT, as my 6th Spyderco purchase, dang this thing is nice! It took a bit to come around, and it was a slow...

Re: Saw a new SharpMaker technique. Recommended?

Ok, first time I've been able to get back to my thread I started. Looks like LOTS of great info in here so am glad I asked as it's apparent that others have similar techniques and/or questions too. The video Rybu linked to is the exact video I watched. Indeed the question was about the inward rotati...

Saw a new SharpMaker technique. Recommended?

I was watching Youtube vids and saw a vid of a guy who was rotating the handle of the knife inward while making his strokes. The idea was that it maintained better contact with the blade as it reached the blades curve/belly, on the flat side of the stones only, of course. I have actually wondered ab...

Re: Itching for a new knife, but should I wait?

I have the same, exact same, dilemma. I keep hoping Spyderco will release the new catalog and put me out of my misery. In case you missed it... http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72462 The catalog release made it easy for me. Nothing changed in the specific lineup I was looking...

My first Delica has been ordered. FFG in Blue. Looking forward to it.

Itching for a new knife, but should I wait?

At this point, I am on the fence about a purchase. I'm currently torn between another DF2 in H1, a Salt 1 or a Delica 4 but am wondering if I should see what the 2017 catalog has in store. Are people expecting any revisions to the Delica and/or the Pac Salt 1? Ultimately, I'd like a FFG Delica-like ...

Re: .22LR rifle recommendations?

Thanks for the recommendations, fellas. Surprised to see so many responses, but did kinda figure this wouldn't be a terrible place to ask such questions. After reading more, and thinking on it, here's where I'm at. I have lots of expensive hobbies and this needs to be somewhat low key on the radar i...

.22LR rifle recommendations?

I'm looking into getting my first rifle, a .22LR, mainly for target shooting, but may end up dabbling in some Grouse hunting too. I've been reading and watching Youtube reviews and am having a hard time deciding which would be the best. Looking for a bolt action, but not completely against the Semi'...

Re: Suggestion for First knife

Welcome to the forum. Being a new(ish) knife collector and daily carrier, I figured I'd add my $0.02. Once you start carrying a knife, you're going to realize how useful it is and wonder how you went so long without one. Having said that, depending on your work, you may need an EDC that fits that bi...

Re: Thinking about a Pac Salt 1

1. The Salt 1 (and other knives in the Salt family) are 100% rust-free--and that includes the pivot, pocket clip, barrel screw, etc. (Although, I believe there were some early Salt models that had issues with discoloration around the pivot, but these issues have been since "CQI'd" accordi...

Thinking about a Pac Salt 1

I was going to get a Delica next, but have decided that I should heavily consider the Salt 1 instead. I am really drawn to idea that I could use this H1 knife for food prep without concern and it would likely end up as a pretty good little camping knife. The questions I have are... Does the knife ha...

Re: Native 5 or Sage 5?

I was tossing those exact 2 around around, and then realized that I may not be patient enough to wait for the Sage 5. So was headed towards the Native 5 all the way, but got side tracked by the Sage 1 and 3 too. I didn't really want the Sage 1, due to the liner lock, which I had on 2 knives already ...

Re: My name is Cogito, and I am a Spyderholic.

Sounds similar to my knife story which began 2 months ago. No real interest in knives, but was buying a replacement for a stolen knife I received as a gift, which was kept in my glovebox. One thing led to another and I have 5 Spydies now. The most recent, last week, a PM2 as well. Love it! I EDC a C...

Re: How the **** did this happen? (PM2 appreciation)

I am a new PM2 owner, (I have a full 24 hours under my belt now), and am really happy with this purchase. The ergo's are indeed great and jimping is by far the best I have on my knives. Like the OP, I figured one day I would end up with one, but more based on the fact that there seem to be a few &qu...

Re: Paramilitary 2 - How to keep the tip pointy?

So if I were to stick to the flat sides of the rods, I should be able to achieve the same sharpness as I would with corners, then flats for touch up sharpening? Using the circular technique tip would be done first, then when aiming to get the rest of the edge, the stroke would just lighten up nearin...

Re: Paramilitary 2 - How to keep the tip pointy?

If you are using the SM, most of the blunting is likely occurring when you're using the corners. When the tip comes off the corner at the end of the stroke, its hard to keep it from sliding across the diagonal flat. I recommend using the flats only on the tip and lighten up at the end of the stroke...

Paramilitary 2 - How to keep the tip pointy?

Despite trying to avoid pulling the knife off the stone, I have slightly blunted the tips of my other knives, being a rookie with sharpening. I am getting better, but I occasionally slip up still. I am really hoping to keep the extremely pointy PM2 tip ultra pointy and sharp. Would I be well served ...

Re: Prepping for my next Spydie

Well I did it. I got to the knife store and finally got to lay my hands on some Spydies before handing over my money as I have for my prior online purchases. Was super impressed with the Native and the Sage 1, but pulled the trigger on a digicam/satin PM2. I had been watching lots of YouTube vids on...
