Re: Community Sharpening Journal
SK5 SRKC I use for small camp chores. mostly carving wood, food prep and cutting rope. Took it up to a 5k shapton then stropped with .1 micron. not my usual style edge but I like a high polish for knives that see a lot of wood carving.

Re: Cold Steel Talk
I bought a Recon 1 XL about 6 years ago and toyed with the idea of adding an opening hole because I dislike thumb studs, but ended up gifting it to a friend who loves knives. It was larger than I really wanted to carry and I realized I’d never use it, but it was a good knife. Are the current Cold S...

Re: What "others" are in the mail?
large voyager arriving today or tomorrow, backup 3V SRK early next week. Since the 3V SRK's in Olive Green were listed as a one time run on midway usa I wasn't totally confident about reprofiling mine on my belt sander. Once I get my second I'm going for it. Great knife but the edge is thicker than ...

You missed a good one! I already have the preorder in already. Cold Steel Recon M1 MagnaCut Tri-Ad Knife Black G-10 (4" Black Stonewash) https://www.bladehq.com/item--Cold-Steel-Recon-1-MagnaCut-Tri-Ad-Black-G10--193248 I'd consider one for a lower price. The S35VN Recons are about $80-105 and...

Re: Cold Steel Talk
Anyway, a question for you: Do you find that there is a difference in build quality/steel performance between pre-GSM and post-GSM Cold Steel knives? I've been looking and haven't noticed any downgrades in the models I've mentioned. But some of them I've only experienced post GSM versions. SK5 Reco...

I go for more practical sharpness tests myself. I mean which material are you more likely to use an axe on?

freshly modded https://i.postimg.cc/FFCB1PHw/20240221-124433.jpg I'll be impressed if anyone can figure out what I modded. It is visible, but very difficult to notice. Choil doesn't look modded. The swedge looks different. took 80 grit sandpaper to the thumb studs. since buying thumbstud folders ag...

Over 2023 and 2024 I acquired a fair number of their folders. Here they are, along with mini reviews: https://i.postimg.cc/tRfqx5s1/20240221-131254.jpg - Spartan - I always thought these looked off, and now I know why. The handle overall size is huge but the grip area is small. I can barely fit my h...

Cold Steel Talk
My history with Spyderco can be summed up pretty briefly. Mid 2000's I got into nice knives. Asked about Spyderco and everyone suggested a Delica. I hated it but liked the opening hole, so asked for a bigger model. Got suggested a Military and fell in love. ----------------------------------------- ...

I'd love to see a sprint of this. Wonder if Snody being a part of that design would make that any tougher to bring back.....Ferruginous wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:34 amI would love an original Ronin. It's smaller than the Ronin 2.

Re: Upping the price.
The pricing has definitely made me slow down. When I got into Spydercos you could get.... $40 S30V Native 1's $45 Delicas and $50 Enduras $100-110 for a Military S60V or S30V $115-125 for gen 3 Police $25 Pretty sure this was the launch price of the Tenacious $95 launch price of the G10 Manix 2, Yoj...

Re: Fixed blade EDC
I've tried a lot of different models. https://i.postimg.cc/LsvmKGLP/20200731-232607-HDR.jpg - The Izula I'm not a fan of. Handle is too small and feels awful with no scales. The Izula 2 is much better, especially after mods. Stripped blade, thinned edge, sharpened spine, contoured scales, etc. Not m...

https://i.imgur.com/6R92wRc.jpg Of all the knives to kick Spyderco out of my pocket, it's a folder I picked up for under $50. Keep coming back to this one. The ergonomics work so nice for me. I know most probably compare the Voyager to the Endura, but I've been comparing mine to my Millie. I like h...
