I have also waited a long time before buying a delica. It took me quite some time to start carrying a 'plastic' (FRN) knife. Now my FRN Calypso Jr. is almost my favorite. I really like FRN. It's tough, you can carry it forever and it still looks great. Can't beat it (well, except maybe with G-10) No...

Hmmm... Where to start... The first time I saw a Military, I thought it was this huge hideous thing. I wondered how anyone could carry a knife so big. Well, it stuck in my head and I got the chance to handle one again and I then had to have one. My Military is my favorite knife. The handle is comfor...

Welcome jl1!! I also have a Calypso Jr. (the lightweight one, with VG-10 steel). The blade on mine, when closed, nearly touches one scale. It turns out that mine was one of the first batch produced with VG-10 and there was some slight warping in the blade. It is my understanding that Spyderco labell...

Engraving almite?
I was wondering if anyone has seen an engraved almite knife handle. Seems to me that this would look nice since the silver aluminum underneath would be exposed when the almite coating was removed during engraving. Would this work? Would bare aluminum stay nice and shiny, or would it get dull and tar...

Thanks for the replies. The dealer that sold me the knife has contacted Spyderco. Apparently some models shipped with screws that were a bit too long. Mine has two long screws and one short. Spyderco is shipping some sort screws to me. I also figured out that a green sharpie covers small scratches o...

VG-10 and 440V... IMO, two very great, but very different steels. It seems to me that they're suited to different types of cutting. VG-10 is easy to sharpen and takes an amazingly sharp polished edge. I can get my Military (cpm-440v) pretty sharp, but not the same sort of hair-popping razor sharp as...

Lum Chinese - A couple of questions...
Hey Y'all... I ordered a Lum Chinese a couple of days ago and it just came today. I suspect that this 'new' knife has been used. My first question... Which way is the clip attached from the factory (tip up or down?) This knife was tip-up, which I dont like. I removed the clip and one of the screw ho...
