I'd be interested in a fixed hawkbill if they could keep it Tasman Salt size. In my experience, the hawkbill design is optimal when it's kept to a small size--especially when serrated. Also, it helps the knife look less vicious, which I think is an inherent problem with hawkbills... especially when...

I often carry a Salt knife when anticipating a messy situation. It gives me much less hesitation to fully rinse down the knife afterwards.

They would know right? You'd figure, right? Spyderco is a great company (especially in its focus on details), but they're not free from the occasional typo or other error on their website or catalog. I've even noticed a typo (or at least an inconsistency) in the title of other models. Considering t...

Leaf Storm or Leafstorm?

This is an awfully trivial question--but one I've had since I was introduced to the model: Is the actual name of the model in question the "Leaf Storm" or "Leafstorm"? The Spyderco website lists it as Leaf Storm, and that would normally be the final word for me, but this particu...

I wasn't around when the Lava was in production, but I sure would've considered one if I were. I can't say I'm really a fan of stainless steel handle material aesthetically, but I'd probably appreciate what additional heft it would offer for such a small knife (especially in a defensive role).

I have to be sure to try one of these Bushcrafts. Does Spyderco have any plans on updating or revising the current offering in the near future?

VG-10 is plenty good steel, but the Superleaf in CPM-3V? I'm interested.

Thanks for the advice, folks. It does seem more realistic that manual sharpening couldn't significantly change the properties of the metal. Nonetheless, this H1 as is hasn't let me down yet, and I'll continue to restore the edge as needed.

So far, the bulk of my collection is from the BladeForums Knife Exchange. Second is Ebay.
There's a good feeling giving users a second home.

Advice on work hardening H1

g'day, all. I'm new to the community, and I must admit I was bit by the bug. Before I realized it, I invested several hundred dollars in Spyderco equipment with a craving for more. I figured I should join the Spyderco community to pay my respects, perhaps find some camaraderie, and hopefully learn ...
