Re: Anyone Here Like Punk Music?
Social Distortion, Pennywise, The Riverdales (Johnny Ramone's side band). Rise Against is kinda cool sometimes. I thought Goldfinger was kinda punk. And what about the MIsfits? Doesn't matter if you choose the Danzig era or Michale Graves, they both did some amazing stuff. Haven't met Danzig, altho...

Civivi knives, anyone?
Already had a Plethiros and a Baklash, and finally decided to grab an Incite. Wonderful fit and finish, the layered cf/G10 is superb, and it's really comfortable to handle. Feels a lot more expensive than it is, just like the other Civivis I own. Always wonder if these are so good, how are the high ...

Re: Quick intro, and recommendations :)
I wouldn't worry about the FRN wearing out. A lot of people talk down about Spyderco using "plastic" for handle scales, but FRN is much more than just "plastic". It's nearly indestructable. That Native should serve you well for years. As Sal said, plenty of FRN knives from the 90...

Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference
I voted cbbl, because I think it's the coolest! But I love the comp and spydercos backlock as well (at least on my Native Chief!)

Re: Anyone heard of Bestknifeshop?
Any time a site has a title like that, it's a scam. I was looking for the best price for my bk2, and one site had it for $60. The sites name was fishingbest or something like that. Immediately knew it was a scam.
Re: Abrasives
Natural stones won't even touch most blade steels these days. I do like silicon carbide stones as well. Yeah I've kind of come to that conclusion myself. But in a way I find it very strange that there isn't an abrasive in nature that isn't close to diamond in hardness and/or abrasive properties. I ...
Re: Abrasives
I have a rather ridiculous quantity of abrasives...between gunsmithing and offering sharpening as a side-service at the gunshop I built up a stockpile. It's split between natural and manufactured...lots of diamond, ceramic with some SIC and CBN thrown in along with a ton of natural stones. The diam...
Re: UPS
Never had a problem with ups here. I live in a hub town as well! Guess the drivers are happy they don't have to go far!
FedEx is hit and miss. DHL is abysmal. Have never had a good experience with them.

Re: Abrasives
Natural stones won't even touch most blade steels these days. I prefer diamond for quick metal removal, and the spyderco ceramics for refining the edge. Recently got a fine stone and am really enjoying it, although the medium stone puts a nasty edge already. I tried using just diamond (325 for repro...

Copper Chef. My wife likes it and it does work well. Also have some Todd English cookware...couple of big pots and a huge pan. Good stuff to cook on!

Re: Who is into fixed blades?
I'm so glad you brought up this most interesting subject "Soc_Monki :) Yes I do like several of Spyderco's fixed blades and have owned and used a few of them over the years. There is one fixed blade model that I will probably continue to love for years to come. It's one of the few Spyderco fix...

Re: Who is into fixed blades?
I tend to carry folders, but I do appreciate a good, practical fixed blade knife. Chris Reeve used to make a series of fixed blade knives called the One Piece Range that I really like. These knives featured a blade and a hollow handle made from a single piece of A2 tool steel. Oh yea, I've seen the...

Re: Who is into fixed blades?
You know that you can get two different micarta scales for that knife? I think they sell them in black and tan. https://www.tomarskabars.com/BK77BLKHNDL_INFO.html Oh yea, and I think there are G10 scales as well. I'm going to use it with the stock scales for a while and see how it goes. I actually ...

Re: Who is into fixed blades?
Didn't see a thread, and didn't want to bump one since most people don't like necro threads! I recently sold my backup Zero Tolerance 0470 because I wanted to buy a nice, heavy duty fixed blade. I went with the Kabar Becker BK2, and man is it a beast! Haven't been able to use it yet because of bein...

Re: Spyderco Shaman Lock Up Issue
Mine actually had the opposite problem, blade play! It's gone now, just needed to work in a little. It does stick just a tiny bit now and again, but I don't see a problem with it. Better a little stick than a loose lock and blade play.

Re: Exclusives?
It seems like an odd plan for Spyderco. Presumably they had a good bit of R & D time into these pieces and to give them to a single dealer would limit their return significantly it seems. An exclusive where you just change colors or steels would be much easier it seems than to develop a variant...

Re: A Vision for the PM2, The XM-18 of Spyderco
I don't think any knife with most locks available are truly swappable. Frame locks, liner locks, compression locks, they all depend on the interface between the tang and lockbar. Swap the blade, you're going to have problems. People swap the blades of para 3s and para 3 lightweights a lot and usuall...
