Nice collection -- I see we have some of the same tastes! :)

But...where oh where is your Sage 1? And not a single military in sight! For shame! :P

I use scandi grinds a lot, from the Spydie Bushcraft in G10, to various Mora models, some puukos, and a custom scandi bushcrafter I own with ironwood scales that are gorgeous. Scandis are great for working wood and are easy to sharpen. But, like any grind, a scandi grind also has disadvantages. Firs...

My Caspian Salt has over a hundred dives on it in salt and fresh water...I have never rinsed it unless it accidentally got rinsed with my other gear. Good as new. Buy a Salt. You'll love it.

p.s. the caspian looks like a great dive knife, but i would have to hold one to see if i like the ergos for general use.
Trust me, it's a great dive knife...mine has done over 200 dives and I couldn't be happier with it.

He doesn't like the knife for deer skinning (he is a crazy-prolific deer hunter) but for people like me who don't hunt 5 days a week, the knife has been excellent.

There is a youtube video by virtuovice (google him and find his channel page) in which he has x-rayed a bunch of knives, including the Moran, to show the tang. As I recall the Moran has a very light tang. Keep in mind, though, that a light tang keeps the weight of the knife very light. I have had a ...

The G-Clips are fine. Never had one break on me. The down side to them is that they won't feed over a military width belt (not a problem for me, I don't like wide belts). My only complaint is that the sheath rides the handle too high on my hip. I might eventually go for a custom sheath that does som...

I have three Foresters. The earier ones came with Tek-Loks, the later ones switched to G-Clips. I don't recall any of them coming with tip guards, but I may just have forgotten. I may have a box around for you if you want it as a collector (all three of mine are users). Let me know and I will ship i...

Hi Vic, I appreciate what you're saying but I think the point that both GEC and I are making is slightly different: in a survival situation batoning large logs isn't necessary. In fact, even if I had a big fixed blade I'd avoid batoning with it in a survival situation because I could dull or break m...

I always get a kick out of what people want in terms of "survival." I've done some batoning with my tenacious, for example, of 1-1.5" sticks for kindling. I've used it to carve a wedge for use with a baton to split bigger wood for a larger fire. I've used it to skin out a few squirrel...

My regular dive knife is the blunt-tipped caspian and I love it. No chance of puncturing my drysuit or wing, and even when deployed it can "dangle" off my index finger while allowing me to use my hand for other tasks. My only wish would be that the sheath allowed easy threading for a 2&quo...

I love my Sage 1 so much I bought another (I have very few duplicates, which should indicate how much I love this knife!). It is great for my office environment and I've made more than a few feather sticks with it at camp when, for whatever reason, I don't have a fixed blade with me. Great knife.

Neomik, like xavierdoc I have used both knives extensively. Xavierdoc has given you pretty much exactly the information I would have given, so I won't repeat it all. Just a couple of additional thoughts: Maintenance of 01 steel is not as big of a problem as many people seem to think. Mine gets a rub...

Afraid I have to disagree on a number of points, but I respect your idea. I spend a lot of time outdoors and always carry at least one fixed blade.
