Re: best sharpening for LC200N = advice?

Yes, Paper cutting sharpness does last a while in my experience. A good while. My flickr account is way past some limit imposed on it by flickr, and my circa 2006 notebook is to old to work well or properly for a lot of other photo hosting sites - So little to no photo from me for quite a while now....

The design (it is a "Roach Belly" design, and that has been around, and proven, for quite a while) has been around A LOT longer than Phil Wilson, and it absolutely is a great "all arounder" (IMO/E).

You wrote that you already have a Manix 2 (not light weight) with S30V steel, which leaves me wondering...
Why not just use the one you already have?

Re: Sharpening Dual Grit Edges

Hey Gabe, Welcome to the forum! I've enjoyed many of your videos; and, Thank You for taking the time and sharing. I've oft wondered if your "dual grit edge" is the just the "fine side" being a good de-burrer of the coarse side burr, thereby getting closer to, or better achieving,...

Definitely in agreement with what - Traditional Sharpening - is posting. Reprofile/sharpen to half of what factory bevels are, a slight micro-bevel, etc... I've been using thin coarse edges for decade-ish now, and have had only pleasurable experiences. The one exception to thin edge is on the Victor...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

I’m always surprised how little air time Vanax seems to get - it is very similar to Magnacut (slightly lower toughness but fractionally higher edge retention and corrosion resistance), at least on paper. I have a quiet carry drift in Vanax and a Magnacut mule and they really are very similar to liv...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

I think a lot about Cliff Stamp saying in so many words to make the edge thinner until it starts to damage and then make it make it thicker until it stops damaging. And demonstrating by cutting a soup can with a knife that had some ridiculously acute angle on it. Yep! He was the man for sure. Get i...

I’ve had a BK9 for 15 or more years now.
I have found that my Bidor Parang and Condor Golok both vastly outperform it (the BK9).

Re: Griptilian

Has anyone had one for awhile? How has it held up? Thinking about picking one up for a hiking knife. I prefer thumb holes and Spydies, but if you're considering Griptillians, do give a look at the Doug Ritter RSK knives as well. You'll see they have a lot of common ground with the Griptillians, and...

Re: Seki City (LC200N) Salt Knives Fit and Finish

Yes, I have had that experience too. I got one of the first Salt 2s, and just recently a Pacific Salt 2 (both LC200N). The Salt 2 has a small amount of lock rock, but that's it. No other "issues" with grind or side-to-side play. It's a great knife that I have put thousands of miles on. The...

Re: Your running knife?

If I had a choice I would be carrying a KelTec P3AT, or a scandium S&W J-Frame. If I have to use a knife, something got too close. For a running knife? where the primary use, by the vast majority, is likely to be some trail / sidewalk clearing of vines, saplings, etc... While I'm sure it either...

I got mine on the 3rd (July), put my own edge on it,loctited the two screws, and have been carrying it since. I am VERY much liking this knife, and very glad I got one!
Gernot, I think you're gonna love it.

Halfneck (and by the way - we have met and spent time together. You were curious on how your Busse would carve, and let me carve with it to see how well, or not well, it did, a long time ago at a PWYP. I was surprised at how well it worked, and you liked that I gave it fair and honest try. I even ha...

Nice

Thanks to both Gabe, and Sal/Spyderco Team!

I picked up an PE H2 DF2 (Plain Edge - H2 Steel - Dragonfly 2 knife, haha) when I ordered my Rex T 15 Mule Team. I have zero complaints with H2 based on my experiences with that little knife so far.

Re: Your running knife?

Running / long distance running, long distance hiking, and biking are things I do weekly. 99.99% of the time it's gonna be a Pacific Salt / Pacific Salt 2, or Salt / Salt 2 for me. I say 99.99% of the time because, I did carry a UKPK on a run I did at the beginning of last April. That was a sanction...

My carry for today (no photo) is still a PE PacSalt 2 (LC). Modded blade shape, BTE Thinned, and ~300 grit edge.
