Re: Have recent releases confused you?

My guess is that Spyderco tends to initially hold back the production quantities on new models, to see how the reception is. Remember each new model represents a tremendous investment in design, materials, tooling and machine costs, etc. Combine this understandable caution, with the fact that most o...

Re: Sal, Can we get CPM 15v?

^Very impressive! Yes it's interesting to see how everything works in concert between hardness and geometry in such an extreme steel. Should help put some details into context and connect the dots for some on how edge performance works and the trade offs involved. It's a vast and difficult subject ...

I have a very small plastic case knife that i have carried for a long time. Its so small i never know its there. Id love to have a quality of the same size to c...

Re: HRC Database

Thanks for the responses. As I said, heat treatment protocol is largely a sealed book to me but I always enjoy learning more. This forum is great for that. :)

Really? That's a huge spread.

I know next to nothing about heat treating, but it surprises me greatly that Spyderco can't get a heat treat any more consistent than +/- 5 HRC points.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Yeah, I lowered it to about 10 degrees per side. Since then I've put on a 30° microbevel. It really does make a big difference in cutting performance and I have had virtually no problems with edge damage at all. K390 can really take it! Mind if I ask what your setup was for that reprofiling?...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

How do you like the Ladybug? This is the best Ladybug ever made IMO. An instant classic for sure. We all know how wonderful hap40 is as well. Gets so sharp I'm really tempted to get one, but having just gotten the BBS Delica exclusive, knife funds are a bit low right now. It's such a classy little ...
