Re: BHQ Paramilitary 2 CPM M4 Exclusive.
Am guessing days / weeks. But the price is right so who knows. Is it a run of 800? 1200? Thanks

Re: BHQ Paramilitary 2 CPM M4 Exclusive.
Not a good using combo for me. Scales get dingy fast, as well as the blade. One or the other but not both.
Not saying I wont get one. Just wont use it much.

Mamba custom prototype & production Spyderco
Just wanted to mention how well the Spyderco Mamba came out. Mediocre photos of a couple spectacular knives. This not a review or comparison. Just random photos of both. Congrats to Walter, Sal & Eric. :spyder: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b190/Modenaro/Bikes%20and%20cars/IMG_1655_zpscmexps...

Re: Spydercos at 50%+ off MSRP
I doubt MAP will apply to discontinued models like STP sells. But have no idea.
When does MAP kick in? Jan 1st 2016?
I don't think MAP is a bad idea at all. Not uncommon in this industry.
Most have gone to it for several valid reasons.

A bit ironic.
This thread may be showcasing the main reason for MAP pricing.

Gets dirty / dingy looking as soon as you use it.
Just my experience anyway.

I guess I never thought much about planes as they slice thin material...........

Re: How do you measure "thickness behind the edge"?
I associate low numbers with slicing. Agree its not the only measurement that counts, but what really drives it home are Jim Ankersons test results. It kind of proves what I have always thought all along. Just my 2. And to answer the question, I use a Dial Caliper. Close enough for my needs. (Read a...

Re: CTS-204p/S90V Comparison
We agree to disagree.
A chart with 204p would be helpful with this. But 1095? Really?
And yes, VG10 will be very similar to S30V for most folks.
I have had some stinker S30v though. :D
I am gone............. Enjoy yourself.

Re: CTS-204p/S90V Comparison
M390, 204P and 20CV. I have seen some "folders" "slicing / cutting" tests in these steels that gave amazing results, while others performed just middle of the road. (Slicing/cutting tests, not twisting / pounding. As were talking folders here) What's the variable? The HT process....

Re: CTS-204p/S90V Comparison
I wonder if your Domino is at the lower end 57/59 or upper end 62/63 for 204p? I have to think M390, 204P and 20CV should test out pretty close with identical grind and optimum HT. "Does that hardness mean he has a "poor" heat treatment or that the knives have poor performance?" ...

Re: CTS-204p/S90V Comparison
As production knives are often run in large batch's, I believe there can be differences even within a batch. (At times) All I am saying is a certain steel with a RC of say 56 is going to perform differently than the same steel at 60. No idea where your going with the 440C stuff as this isn't a ferro...

Re: CTS-204p/S90V Comparison
Agree, In my mind the HT tells the tale. I have some ATS34, BG42, 154CM that kills it. And some D2, S30V, and M390 that suck. (And Visa Versa) So, its not necessary all blade steel. To make these tests more accurate, I wish the RC numbers were posted. It puts a couple dimples on the blade, but aside...

Re: Nirvana Question?
Reminds me of the 1st $100.00 knife I purchased. "This is it, wont ever have to do that again!" Then, $200, $300 etc. I have some favorite "back up" production knives that don't get used. As well as a few I liked, just to collect. (Like sub 3" folders) And some custom fixed ...
