Re: Spyderco Waterway Impressions

Very helpful review. Looking forward to your continued experience, particularly with edge retention, sharpening etc. Edge holding was always the problem with H1 in PE. I love the overall blade profile and I think your comments just bumped the waterway to the top of my purchase list. Looks like the p...

Re: M4 Shaman Exclusive

I agree. I prefer Cruwear, but still love M4. I prefer gray or black or tan or brown or dark green (you get the picture) scales, but jade is fine too. I have the Yo2 and it really works to make that look less weapony, more edc utility. I also have the PM2 and it is a great worker. If I wanted an upg...

i honestly wonder if it sold slow just because people didn't/don't recognize it as CruWear by another name.

...
I think this is it. I bought one and then thought maybe to get another one, and was surprised they were still available!
Cruwear is in my top tier of preferred steels.

Re: Who wants a Spyderco "Sharpened Pry Bar"?

One of the problems with the LABEL "sharpened pry bar" is it immediately leads to questions about prying with a knife. I like a tough knife capable of hard work, but I still would not pry with one unless it was an emergency and that was my only option. "Pry bar" is just not a goo...

Re: point durability on Military?

I think the fine splinter probe tip is one of the most desirable features of the Military and certainly durable enough for my need. :) Agreed, a fine tip can be a good feature, but what's the point / advantage in making the rest of the blade that thick and sturdy then? I think this question answers...

Re: Who wants a Spyderco "Sharpened Pry Bar"?

I have considered the Boye's before, but Pelagic was looking for 4" (which is also my favorite compromise blade length) and I think all the Boye's are 3". On topic - I am in the camp of wanting a knife to cut things but still be plenty sturdy so it does not need to be babied. The OP mentio...

Re: Milli blade, meet P4 handles and lock

I like the Police 4 blade better than the Military blade. ... I love the Mili and don't have a P4, partly because it looks so similar to a Mili. I am indifferent to the lock (both are fine) and steel - my Mili's are already great cutters, and the only K390 I have is a mule, but it is also great. Th...

Re: 3V edge retention stainless equal???

The only 3v I’ve tried was in a cold steel Master Hunter. I kind of felt like the edge retention was a notch below s30v but I really enjoyed the way the steel sharpened and the aggressive edge it took and I always appreciate high toughness. That knife kind of reminded me of an ever so slightly soft...

Re: It's time... for a new Millie in CPM-Cru wear

Consider a military a responsible purchase. It looks big and it is but it is so well designed you swiftly forget about the size. The blade length allows you to do allot more than a PM2 can. T he only problem you may encounter is you will not carry a Paramilitary 2 or a para3 again . I know because ...

Re: It's time... for a new Millie in CPM-Cru wear

I totally agree with the need for a new CQI Military in CPM-CRUWEAR. My personal preference would be brown or gray G10 with a DLC blade though. I also really hope St Nicks does a DLC 4V/Red G10 Military this year. And a CPM-3V Military would be amazing as well. With 4V finally appearing last year, ...

Tatanka in Cruwear or 3v would be an awesome sprint.

A similarly patterned fixed blade would be pretty cool too, but maybe that's a project for a custom maker.
yes please!

Re: Pros & cons of Cruwear?

Edge retention just below M4, toughness just above M4, sharpenability is VERY, VERY GOOD. Corrosion resistance is impressive too, considering. Almost a semi-stainless. One of the most well-balanced steels in the industry. This sums it up well. My most carried and most used knife in the last few yea...

Re: POLL: More DLC low chromium steels?

I think the range of opinions is interesting, despite this topic having already been debated extensively. I voted yes, partly because if there is even a little protection against corrosion, that seems like a good thing. But I also find spyderco's DLC is not like other blade coatings that create fric...

Re: Hard truths and observations

One other thought - the "blue collar" models and the sprint / "higher-end" and more expensive models might fit different market segments, but the buyers might overlap a lot. Why else would so many (everyone?) be excited by a PM3 LW? I buy knives to use (or because I think I will)...
